twiisted71 50 #1 Posted July 2, 2020 Trying to get this old girl (C-81) badk in shape and managed to lose the outer spacer on the mule drive!!! Anyone happen to know the length? I can order one online but I'd like to get it up and running ASAP. It is 3/4" ID, correct?

Ed Kennell 38,022 #4 Posted July 2, 2020 It took longer to find a wrench to get the guard off than to measure the bushing. 1
echris 1,425 #5 Posted July 2, 2020 I believe it is Murphy's Law sub-paragraph 3, section 5 which states: "A lost item shall only be found upon the postman delivery a suitable replacement." 4 1

echris 1,425 #7 Posted July 3, 2020 Almost any 3/4" ID piece of round stock would do in a pinch if you can cut it straight and smooth out the ends. Even PVC would work for a while as long as the bearings in your pulleys are in good shape. I wouldn't recommend leaving it that way though.
twiisted71 50 #8 Posted July 3, 2020 I picked up a section of 3/4 spacer but as per usual its cheap roll formed junk not a piece of DOM. Probably doesn't matter at all in this application but it its lasted for over 40 yrs I'd like to give it a shot at the next 40. Mr Murphy and his laws are definitely on the side of the prosecution everytime he gets near me and my projects! And I'm sure I'll find the old one as soon as I've cut the box store garbage and installed it. I'll probably see it leaving Earth's orbit as it exits the underside of the mower deck at the speed of light! 1 4

chex313 123 #11 Posted July 3, 2020 If I know the vicinity where the object may have been lost, I start randomly dropping things and follow them to the nooks where they roll. I'll often find lost things, tho never the actual thing I'm looking for. Also never use needed items for they will disappear permanently into the void. True story...
