Heat the spring steel end coil cherry red with a blow torch and that will allow it to bend without breaking but it removes the "spring" in the steel so only heat the small part you need to bend. You can use a thin piece of metal to protect the coils you don't want to heat. Or, You can take it to the hardware store and match it up with a spring in their selection of springs. peter lena 8,721 #12 Posted July 2, 2020 ADRIENNE , MOST HARDWARE STORES TODAY HAVE UPGRADED TO A VERY THOROUGH SELECTION . from isles of brackets clevis hitches and many types of springs . also a terrific slide out drawer selection of practically anything you might need . you can match up or get very close to your spring , i typically use a needle nose vise grip or a phillips round shank screw driver to slide in a spring , i also lubricate the contact points for smooth operation. should be a simple fix, pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
