312-8 with a 48" deck

Recommended Posts

This is the first time I put the deck on myself..... cuts fine. However, I have to use

the highest setting to cut 3" or so.... I cant figure out how to leave the grass longer.

I'm not sure I have the deck properly mounted. Thanks

agree with  gwest above on operational file, also found on mine , 42" r/d deck  ,that a larger rear wheel helps for a higher lawn , like a 6 " wheel. pete

Hi Again,

  When I mounted the deck there is a part of the "hitch" that has a

steel piece with a V cut into it.  Can you tell me where that V should

be at?  The steel rod with the spring on it? or the other steel rod?

the other steel rod

As you have seen, the manual leaves a lot to be desired, the rod with the spring isn't even shown in Figure 6.

Since you want maximum height, level the deck with minimal slope front to rear.

Your complaint wanting to cut higher is very common for WH decks. I assume people didn’t cut lawns as tall in 1950- 1990s as they want to now. Sounds like your deck is working correctly.

@Hoosier Dave I know somebody has posted some really good photos for this whole process, including what you're aiming for with the "V" (yes, the other rod).

@daveoman1966 maybe?
