Dan.gerous 2,696 #51 Posted July 18, 2020 (edited) Today's repurpose project... Eldest daughter has a flock of 9 budgies that live in small cage when not roaming about her room. She needed a bigger cage so they can have a bit more room during lockdown hours. This morning a free wardrobe showed up in Edinburgh, so we jumped in the van and did a quick three hour drive to bring it home. Popped out the door centres and replaced them with welded wire, she now has a cage about four times bigger. Making it more interesting for the budgies is now her project, I have a thousand other things to do! Edited July 18, 2020 by Dan.gerous 7
formariz 11,987 #52 Posted July 21, 2020 Since I always seem to have old garden tools around such as pitch forks without handles repurposed one of them as an organizer for hammers and hatchets. Used miscellaneous other left over metals to complete it. 3 4

Dan.gerous 2,696 #55 Posted July 21, 2020 Found this on the fence line of our house. Should be fine with a squirt of WD-40. 1 5
Stormin 9,981 #56 Posted July 22, 2020 A few days in an E-tank should clean up that.

Dan.gerous 2,696 #62 Posted July 22, 2020 Got bullied into sticking things into the new budgie cage. The new inhabitants are a bit reluctant to move though. 3
Dan.gerous 2,696 #63 Posted July 22, 2020 They finally moved in, my wife Marie went up and laid down the law as they wouldn't leave the old house. Even a budgie listens sometimes! 9

formariz 11,987 #65 Posted July 27, 2020 I have literally hundreds of items repurposed from something else. Nothing here goes to waste. Gourd repurposed as a liquid container. It is strong and leak free. Another smaller gourd repurposed as a funnel to fill large one. Spoon carved from a piece of firewood that had a knot already conducive to that shape. Tray made from a pine scrap. 1 3
formariz 11,987 #66 Posted July 27, 2020 I see beauty and purpose in many otherwise discarded items such as in interesting pieces of firewood and branches. 4 3
Dan.gerous 2,696 #67 Posted March 15, 2021 Lately making things out of coffee cups had been passing my time onboard the ship. This is EVA from WALL-E, she fully articulates and you can drink out of the cup. Have brought a load of card for similar projects as they make less mess in my cabin than doing woodwork! 1 2
Dan.gerous 2,696 #68 Posted March 15, 2021 This is my personal favourite. I brought a huge teapot for the ship as there is a group of us that like drinking tea. It's revolutionised our social life onboard and at times the messroom has the buzz of a pub - a far cry from when I first started and everybody hid in cabins. Anyway, we wanted a tea cosy for the pot and a dozen people promised to knit one.... And never did. I got bored of that and was sitting there one day playing with my hard hat when an idea formed - so simple, elegant and entirely appropriate. The stickers are home made and just nonsense to make it look cooler. It's been popular, and I have had to make several more for "clients"! There is also a pile of hard hats with holes in that were the wrong shape for the pot, and a lot of guys wondering what happened to their hats..... 2

I changed the company logo so that it has an extra arm with a cup and saucer in it and renamed the company "Northdrink Beverages" instead of "Northlink Ferries". Its so subtle that nobody notices unless I point it out Edited March 15, 2021 by Dan.gerous 2 4
D_Mac 8,617 #71 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) Old tool box and a bunch of wrenches I got real cheap at an auction. Turned them into a bird feeder. Took a pedal car with custom paint job turned it into a real cool baby stroller. Welded a big castor wheel under the front end to lift the front wheels about 1/2 inch off the ground. Hacked up a car seat to fit in. Made the handle bars. Made the front bumper to hide the castor wheel. Steers like a shopping cart. Another head turner at the car shows. ohiofarmer 3,265 #72 Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) One time an internal brass screw that held a main jet needle into a one hundred dollar motorcycle carb diaphragm came loose and hammered its threads to m ush. It came to me a few days later that a bit of vinyl hose with a tiny set screw as an expanding plug would indeed retain the jet needle just as well as the original threaded fastener.. Still working today.. And saved me a Franklin Also I repurpose coffee stir straws by taping them to spray cans on carb cleaner and I insert the nozzle straws original to the can into my free straw holder Edited March 17, 2021 by ohiofarmer

Pullstart 62,851 #74 Posted March 17, 2021 This used to be a box I built for the cement floor in our old basement. It was for the litter of puppies we had. Just some deck boards mostly ripped on the highest setting on the table saw, then chiseled apart from there. After the puppies moved on, it became a plant stand. It’s slightly rickety and moves about, but doesn’t get jostled much and serves it’s purpose. The splits seem to give it a unique look, so I left them!

The first couple she found inside what was used as the office at old grain elevators. Some of them have really neat ornamental work on the casting. For the longest time she had one of her ticket holders stuck to the side of the metal filing cabinet with a magnet removed from a microwave magnetron. But I see now that she has removed it, served its purpose when we were doing eBay sales. Pat's meager collection of bill hooks.
