Honey I just brought a snow plow.... and a mower deck....

 I think I need to pay a visit to Spec Savers. Had another look and see the top of the grease nipples. I've all the parts for a side discharge except for the deck shell. That was badly damaged. I think it had been run over by something heavy that bent it.

This is the lift chain that either needs shortening or a solid bar added.

Given the option I'd do the solid bar.

 

We use it for moving dirt once in awhile but mostly it's for scraping the snow a little bit deeper during the winter. We have a dirt driveway so things tend to get compacted and it's nice to be able to give it that little extra oomph to clean things.

Do you still have the rubber strip on the bottom or do you use a sacrificial steel strip for grading the driveway?

 

The rubber is great on the tarmac and concrete but it lacks the bite of a solid edge when pushing the dirt/gravel/mud in the courtyard.

We have 2 snow dirt dozer blades that go on the front and 1 mid mount grader.

The grader blade has nothing on it but it wouldn't be a big deal to add something.

Both push blades have sacrificial steel edges.

I keep our snow pushers tilted forward one more notch so they don't have a tendency to dig in quite so much.

I hadn't looked into fine tuning the angle, kind of just spent a few hours having fun - the tinkerer took a back seat to the inner child.

 

A steel edge as an option would be good, damn like I don't have enough things to do!

I'll look for that rod tomorrow, Dan. As for the plough/dozer blade, I'm the same as Eric. Both that and my mid mount grader have sacrificial strips.

Yeah the rubber is good, but steel might be better for some applications.

 

Good to know you can get mid mount graders in the UK Will keep an eye open for one once my wife let's me!

My new exhaust system is great but does take away space where the deck would fit. If you need to cannibalize that deck you were gifting me then please do so.

No that deck is all yours, I have another one to steal parts off, however it's a different type and that particular bit didn't fit.

 

I found sweepers specifically for the wheelhorse in Denmark. Skipper has one I want to buy next time some cash is free 😊 if you go onto the Danish version of eBay and search wheelhorse they have some awesome stuff.

I did the quick fix for now and shortened the chain.

 

Was playing around with the blade angle as it was in the furthest back position, when I put it several positions closer to vertical the ground clearance reduced to 0!

 

The short chain has given me a couple of inches clearance so I can use the wheelhorse with the trailer and blade now.

 

I noticed while playing about under there that the lift mechanism has another arm on it, wonder what that's for?

Forgot to mention it slightly fouls the steering arm with the shorter chain when you pick it up. Probably just needs a spacer to keep it slightly more to the side.

I don't have any implement other than the plows so I don't know what that extra arm would be for.

 

Because of the very rough terrain that I live on I needed to get the maximum lift that I could from my plow.

When I made the brackets for the rear axle I also lowered the attaching point about an inch. Combining that with appropriate placement of the new lift point in the middle, when I lift the plow it sometimes touches the front of the frame. but I don't have an attach a matic or mule drive or anything like that.

To gain moldboard height when lifted you need to add spacers to the rear axle plow attach...

I also notice that other lever for altering the plow angle stops the brake pedal from depressing fully....

 

Spacer on the rear axle bracket send the next thing to do, I have the same problem with ground clearance around the farm. Ideally want to keep the plow on as much as possible until I buy another house to tow the trailer.

I have found some spacers and removed the bracket, just need to find some longer bolts now.

 

Might see if I can get bigger spacers as mine are only about half inch.
