Well of course there's proof if needed that we're Newbies ......

The nut holds the blades on NOT the deck.

It is a 3/4" national fine thread jam nut.

The nuts that hold your mower blades on are 3/4-16 Jam Nuts. Toro wants an arm and a leg for them, here is a listing in the USA where you can buy them for a good price. Hope you can find a good source in the UK.

You really need a 1 1/8"  six point socket to keep from round off the nut.

Something's not adding up here...  I'm not sure I can tell exactly from your photo, but I think I see your 16 mm inside measurement.  Mathematically, that would work out closer to a 5/8" i.d., not 3/4".  Also, the 3/4" bolts that hold the blades on would measure 1-1/8" across, not the 1" that I see here.

So, where do these nuts go exactly?  And which deck are you working on?

I left a post on your other thread about this.  My apologies if I'm not seeing this right.

It adds up just fine, the tap drill size for a 3/4-16 thread is what you are measuring.  The poor quality nut and crude way of measuring does cause the 1-1/8 to appear wrong.

big d , those spindle nut thread shafts should first be cleaned up with a FINE THREAD DIE NUT ,and lubricant   that will ensure clean and detailed threading , i would also use never seize  on the threads for future service . use a 6 point impact socket and electric impact gun for easy removal. while you are there a good time to scrape down the underside of the deck , and soak it down with penetrating oil or chain and cable lube . to stop rust and feed the metal, pete
