867 How do you separate box from dash tower

I'm restoring a 1967 867.  I cannot figure out how to separate the lower part that is bolted to the frame from the dash.  I have removed all of the obvious bolts securing it down.  It looks like there is some sort of finger joint configuration keeping it in.  Refer to the pics.  Thanks.

Yep, it’s not easy to get that apart.  I recently did one to make it into a 1045 lookalike.

As long as the tabs that hold it in place and the spot welds themselves are in decent shape we leave them alone. Removing paint around the tabs if you're doing a restoration can be a challenge but with patience it's easy enough.
