stevasaurus 22,711 #27 Posted June 11, 2020 You know, I think I have seen one of these in a glass cutting book. I think the tool is used to stretch the lead when 1st un-coiled. The lead then is a tighter fit to the stained glass. The lead coil is about 6', you clamp one end and grab the other with this tool and gently pull to stretch the lead. When measuring very long runs one needs to make sure tape is absolutely stretched for accuracy otherwise dimension will be greater than what it actually is. It’s a LUFKIN tape clamp which allows one to comfortably pull tape measure taut while reading with no damage to tape whatsoever .I use it often to take field dimensions.
