Something for the deer to eat instead of our garden. I just need to figure out how to keep them out of the beans so they can grow a little bit. walmart body spray worked for a couple nights, Now I switched to Old Spice. I may have to get carpet fresh next. The photo's are from several different years and modifications. The bean sprout photo from saturday has a wheat border. I will cut that when the hay gets cut and replant in September and leave the beans in until spring. Beans got planted late last year (july)and all got ate off before they could grow. Hopefully better luck this year.

That's a neat rig and it's great to see these little tractors being utilized.

If you ever do a YouTube video about how that thing works I'd love to see it.

My parents and grand parents swore by dried blood meal to keep deer and rabbits out of the garden. They would make a circle around the outside of the garden with it.

The ground was a little too wet but there was rain predicted, so I had to get them in. That's probably why they sprouted so fast

It is super dried animal blood, turned into a powder.  It is super high in nitrogen and can burn plants if not treated with care.

I purchased my planter at the big show from Don Kane, a founding member of the WHCC. He purchased it from a dealer when they found it in the attic of the dealer. It was NOS and basically it still is because I’ve never used it.

And you have never used it Don because

A) I don't have a big enough garden.

B: I don't want it to be other than NOS

C) I am a sally

Take yer pick Don :ychain::wh:

All kidding aside it's great to see you exhibit it! :handgestures-thumbupright:

I’m going to have to go with B! I had a garden but it was not big enough to warrant that planter. Don’t get me wrong if I had the opportunity to use it locally I probably would do so. In the meantime I may be able to hold the title of the only NOS planter on Red Square?

We have used Irish spring soap to keep deer, rabbit's, and woodchuck out of our garden's with good results. Shave thin strips off all around the boundary, reapply depending on rain washing it away or if you can't smell it.

Agreed Darb... I have used that as well. Not very feasible on a large plot tho.

WHX24- not inexpensive either. Not sure what the dried blood goes for. My wife found a good deal on the I. S.soap I think on Amazon for twelve bars not sure what she paid. But she said it was a good deal. Keeps mice out of campers also.

I used Irish Spring  in a plastic cup with water and holes punched in the top. Had around 6 of them around the garden. Kept a jug of water out there to add when needed.
