I haven't exactly solved that part fully.

The steering wheel I'm using is substantially larger than stock which will help with the leverage effect, of course. But it won't be the end-all to the situation.

I think the angle will be too much for a u-joint they don't like sharp angles. With the large steering wheel you can easily over power the fan gear in sharp turns.. I can slip the end tooth on my 312-8 in a tight turn trying to get just a little more turn.

Oh yes. Absolutely.

Seems 35° is a standard Max.

I need to go 70 or so.

I'm lookin at 2 minimum. Maybe 3.

Maybe look onto using a go kart rack & pinion setup. Jungle site has kit for not much

I looked at those and I like the suggestion. Only thing is, they're too "modern"  to fit into the build right.

I'd like to find something that is a gearbox maybe 2: 1 or 4: 1 but all the ones I find are $200 and up and I'd rather just muscle it then pay that much.

I don't know if you have any pick and pull salvage yard near you, but a rack and pinion out of a small car may work for you.

There's one yard left that'll let ya in....

But I already have the side to side motion solved.

Just need to gear it up/down a hair.

How about something like this?

Sorry for hijacking your thread KrazeyOlDave

Now we're heading down the right road...

I could mount that at an angle and the u-joints would be about right.

I dunno if ole Dave needs apologies though...

This IS a steering thread.  😂
