"Interchangeability between 1" and 1-1/8" 8 speed transmissions

Hello, does anyone know if the gears from a 1" axle 8 speed transmission will fit in an 8 speed case that takes 1-1/8" axles?

Some of the gears will interchange. Best to down load a manual for both transmissions and check to see witch ones will interchange.

If the transaxles are of about the same year the answer would be yes. If you have both transaxles then there is no problem, but buying one gear from another transmission may not be compatible.

I'm considering buying the gears from one to put in the case of the other. Unless someone near southeast Ohio has an 8 speed transmission for sale. I don't see any listed locally, just whole tractors but my truck isn't doing so well so I can't pull a trailer right now.

By looking at the manuals so far it looks like the gears are the same. I haven't looked at every one but going back and forth so far the shafts are the same and all the gears I've looked at so far have the same part number. The shifters have different part numbers though. The hi low shifter parts all have different part numbers but the reduction gears have the same numbers. The main shifter also has different part numbers.

I bought some gears and shifters from a 421 and case halves from a 417-8 and the gears seem to fit okay so far but I have this one gear left over. Anyone know what it is? Did I miss something or did the seller accidentally give me a gear from a different transmission?

 

I haven't bolted the transmission together yet, just put the gears in to see if they fit okay. I had to order a detent spring, shift pin and some thrust washers.
