The Nabob coffee measuring spoon is from the 1940's, when you purchased a pound of coffee inside the tin was a small certificate. Would be my guess the customer had to submit so many of these certificates to get a free measuring spoon.

History

The Nabob Coffee Company originated in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1896. Its coffee was processed and packaged in the factory of food manufacturing company Kelly Douglas Limited.[1] The name refers to the Anglo-Indian word nabob, a term for a conspicuously wealthy man who made his fortune in the Orient during the British colonial era.

Nabob was purchased by German firm Jacobs Suchard in 1976. In 1978, the new owners extended the Nabob brand into Central and Eastern Canada and by 1986 Nabob had made its way all across Canada, Quebec being the last province to receive the brand.[1]

In 1994, the Nabob brand was purchased by Kraft Foods.

Our measuring spoon was an old farm house find.

Red rose tea had similar gimmicks, the bird and flower series collector cards then the Wade Whimsies.

Stamped out from Brass, the Genie has a flat backside not concave as one would expect, this must have been  pre or post war as copper and brass were called to duty - restricted for civilian use.

Posting as Mr. Bob did no t realize Nabob was an orphan brand.
