Yup.  I think you are correct - an Olds engine.  It has been a couple of years since I read that article.

 

If I remember correctly, Wheel Horse bought the REO lawn implement business sometime in the mid 60's.  They bought it from  Motor Wheel, which is the company I started my 40 year career in the automotive supplier business in the late 70's.

Yeah I've run her for a few minutes a couple times.

:D

 

 

I swapped out the plug wire for one from an NOS universal V8 set from 40 or 50 years ago.
