My first big flywheel engine

Thanks to @Stepney Spenser who has connected me with multiple tractors and engines I now have my oldest member of the fleet/team/collection.

I really don't have a specific use yet.

It's just a cool ole piece o' iron.

 

I did measure the length and it would fit in a Wheelhorse if the frame were extended about 13+ inches....

    My father collected and restored a number of those one lungers.I roughly figured about 150 pounds to the horsepower.

Great move. I love those engines. I always wanted to get one just to have it here running the whole day when I am outside so I can listen to it

Now you got me really thinking about them. I have a stream that runs in the property and one of those would be the ideal thing to have  slowly pumping water from it. Almost every year they declare a drought around here and I need to keep my lawn green.

If a guy had the time and resources, a mini belt driven shop. 

We have this one about a mile from my place, pretty cool old belt driven shop and foundry. Worth the $5 tour. Especially when they turn it on!

That why I enjoy or Steam Pageant. And see all the cool things people do with them!

If I ever run across a Reo hit n miss engine for sale, I will be tempted to buy it.  I grew up in Lansing, Michigan where Mr. Olds did most of his work.

I've pondered that. Colossus already has a half a plan.

There is a guy that is every year at the Sussex County Fair like that. I wonder if that is the same one.

I remembered i see that Pict also, but it wasn‘t Curious George or his brothers.

It was a more unconventional built, that was the reason for my question to Eric.

 

By the Name Colossus, i would be thinkin of such an Engine.

Can even be built in a optical Way close to Steampunk optics.

 

I think that could be an optical Blast.

There's quite a few hit n miss and throttle governor flywheel engine powered garden tractors out there.

I've been fascinated with the idea for a VERY long time.

 

 

The purpose difference between Colossus and (whatever we do) with this FM engine is that Colossus is being specifically built to work on our property where the FM powered unit would be only for shows.

You must mean an Olds engine? REO's were.. besides the trucks, mower engines. I have a few little REO air cooled models myself.
But an Olds Sideshaft.. wow.. a very pretty engine indeed.

it was a doodle bug of sorts... but yes I was able to take a hot lap on it!
