Bill 4 #2 Posted May 6, 2009 Is a B-80 4 speed ok for pulling? Sure is... Last yr there was a guy pulling with a B-80 in the stock class..and did ok with it...The best thing for you is to get in contact with who ever runs the club in your area and ask then for a set of rules.....This yr In Ct I'm going to be pulling in 3 diff Clubs and all three have Diff. rules... Crazywheelhorseman 67 #3 Posted May 7, 2009 Yes b80's are very good pullers I've pulled with mine and have kept up with machines with twice the hp.
rwilson 128 #4 Posted May 7, 2009 Is there any tricks to setting the tractor up? The club around here pulls a transfer sled.

KeithB 6 #6 Posted October 13, 2009 Is there any tricks to setting the tractor up? The club around here pulls a transfer sled. you need a pulling hitch, and some weight brackets, on WHs most of the weight goes underneath, also you will need a weight bar out in front for weight to keep the nose down. usually a extending bar called a snorkel bar. in out club the weight can be as far out as 7 feet in front the the rear axle CL
jhunsch 20 #7 Posted November 6, 2011 Absolutely a B80 is a good puller. I have a plain old B80 8 speed that pulls very good. Its amazing what 8hp can do. I always pull in the 900, 1050, 1250, 1500, and 2000lb classes. Its a lot of fun, always a fund raiser for something or someone in need. Believe me it takes a long time to get to the other end of the track, but most of the time I will get there. The crowed was stunned when I had a full pull in the 2000 lb class against this Guy. In the pull off, he pulled 306 feet and I pulled 302 feet. So I took second place and was the first looser. The most I ever weighted in at was 1905 lbs, it gets hard to steer at that weight, I pull in 2nd low range. The only thing I do is use a lead additive in the fuel. Pure Gas Cam 2. And 26 inch tall tires. At the end of a 300 foot pull she gets very, very HOT And here are a few Photo bucket links of more pictures & Video. http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... %20Puller/ http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... 0Pictures/ http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... to%20Pull/ http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... %20Videos/ http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... 20a%20B60/ So to answer your question about a B80 4 speed. I thing it would do well in the 600, 750, and the 900lb classes. If that`s available in your club. Or change to 12 or more horse power. With out hi/low range 8hp is going to hard to be competitive. I go to pulls for the fun and fund raisers and just to be around great folks. So I hope this and all the Pics are helpful. Jeff :dunno:
