ClevelandBrown 47 #1 Posted May 21, 2020 I've got an 867 tractor with a RM367 mower deck that I just put back together. I put new double belts on the mower deck and a new small belt connecting the deck pulley to the engine pulley. The small belt turns fast and fine. But it looks like the double belts to the cross shaft of the mower are too loose. The whole shaft turns and spins the blades - just not fast enough to cut well. Is there a way of adjusting the belt tension on the mower deck? What else could I do to get those belts engaged better?
horseyheaven 112 #2 Posted May 21, 2020 Yes, should be an easy fix. In your picture, between the two belts you will see a bolt. The metal behind the bolt should be slotted. Loosen the bolt and move the metal in slot until it takes up the slack in the belts. Then remember to tighten the bolt back up. I can’t remember which direction. Move it either way and see what helps the problem. Let me know if you need anything else, I can go look at mine.
ClevelandBrown 47 #3 Posted May 21, 2020 Thank you, horseyheaven! That did the trick. It's cutting beautifully again.

ClevelandBrown 47 #5 Posted May 24, 2020 Sorry, John! I’m no expert and I don’t know the newer machines. Maybe it’s a belt tension issue for you? Alternatively, does the engine sound like its straining through the thick stuff?
John Holst 0 #6 Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) Yes a bit.Over all the motor runs rather slowly. Edited May 24, 2020 by John Holst
Tractorhead 9,064 #7 Posted May 24, 2020 Is that an upcomeing issue or did that happen longer before? can be a clogged carb bowl, clogged fuel line, clogged Air filter. did it run well before any time you own it?
