8ntruck 6,991 #2 Posted May 19, 2020 The hammertone silver/gray paint suggests 50's to early 60's. The partially hidden logo suggests same era Craftsman. The three countersunk holes suggest it mounts on a flat surface. The wing nut looks like it might be a 1/4-20 thread. That would make the diameter somewhere between 3 and 4 inches. Beyond this, I haven't a clue.

Just would have to make a hole in center of disc. Edited May 19, 2020 by formariz

8ntruck 6,991 #12 Posted May 19, 2020 I could not open that image. So, it is a 50's or early 60's Craftsman accessory of some sort. I get the feeling that it is die cast aluminum. Still no clue. How about a hint? What does it mount on?

It can be mounted in a variety of ways, one specific way being directly on the subject related to its function.Other manufactures offered it although not many. This Craftsman one however, is the only one with a very unique an particular way of mounting it if so desired. It is something that today no one would even think of doing, myself not included since I am very partial to old ways and old tools. Actually even when it was sold originally, not many would even consider the function for which it was intended. It did come with another tool included. Somehow I had the feeling you were going to get it all along. It is a dedicated vise to sharpen circular saw blades. It can also attach itself to table saw's miter slot although for me does not work that way due to my fence obstructing it and also being at an uncomfortable height for me. I prefer non carbide blades for any solid wood cutting. They slice through wood so much better, taking less power from saw and I am able to touch them up quickly at any time without letting them get dull. I only use carbide tipped blades for man made materials since the glue used to make them would destroy a regular blade quickly.
