Lane Ranger 10,946 #11 Posted May 16, 2020 Craig: Believe it or not I asked a friend about this and sent your pictures The friend in the tree farm group ID'd this exactly! He asked if it was a cedar tree? It becomes a bright red/orange mushroom like material that you would not want to touch. Cedar apple rust in eastern red cedar trees attracts attention every spring he said. A A friend here in Indiana
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #12 Posted May 16, 2020 What king of tree is it? Looks like it has thorns. Unlike any cedar I've seen. Garry
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,296 #13 Posted May 16, 2020 @AMC RULES You need to spray you trees and /or cut the infected branches off and destroy . I lost 6 cedars to the disease .
formariz 11,987 #14 Posted May 16, 2020 @AMC RULES Now if you have any type of pear tree around such as Bradford pears around they will get a fungus which is incurable. That has been the demise of all pears around here. I have to spray mine three times during the year. I have been told by the experts that the only solution will be to get rid of all the junipers. What you have on the junipers is the host for the fungus.
clueless 2,976 #15 Posted May 16, 2020 Looks like a large covid spore, you don't have to worry about a mask with that one, maybe a hard hat though.
