1964 Suburban RJ 552

Hi Guys, 

 

What are your thoughts on this model? What would be a reasonable price for one that is in decent shape and "ran last year when parked"?

I'm not any kind of an expert on the older models but that doesn't sound anywhere near right to me. Suburban was only for one or two years. 552 would make it a 1962. 1964 there should have been an entirely different model number like 704. 854. Something like that.

Pics or other information might help us narrow down what it really is.

 

The seller quite possibly does not know.

Like Eric said, it's a 1962. It's not the original engine. Originally an electric start but I'm guessing it's a pull start now because of the removal of the ammeter and switch. Still it looks decent and could be made into a nice machine. I'd say $150-200 around here.

That would be a 1962 model 552. It should have a Tecumseh 5hp engine. Looks like it could use some cosmetic help. Engine appears to have been replaced. Top dollar for me would be $300.

The hood is cracked, common if it was run without all the hood screws, or if the replacement engine was pushing on the tins.  I’d be in the middle and say $200 tops.  I have a 552 waiting for project day, ‘62 might be my favorite year of tractor!

Ride Away Junior... quit being used in late 1959 with  the intro of the Suburban's and '60 models.

That looks quite the same as what you get here for that prices.

This are not new Tractors and they have their History.

 

It depends allway’s on what you like to spent, not what they asking for.

To find an fair offer, will depending sometimes a bit longer or be depending on a Bargain.

 

But however both sides must go out of that Deal with a feel good after the Deal.

 

but all Herds have the same situation, even if it starts with one Tractor, they tends to grow.😎👍

The hub should be OK. It's only a 3 holer. The leaky seal is an easy fix and will probably make getting the hub off easier.

Hopefully.... unless a bad bearing took out the seal like most of mine. See if the axles has any movement side to side. If it does the tranny should get split but yes the hub should come off easy enough. Check the other side you go to kick tires on it.
