chrisnjake9 0 #1 Posted May 7, 2020 hello i am new to the forum but i have looked at a few threads i am looking to by pass all electrical switches on my older 417-8 i tried running power to the coil no luck
lynnmor 7,352 #2 Posted May 7, 2020 There is a demystification guide in the manuals section that should help you. Just throwing new wires at it won’t help if the basic troubleshooting isn’t done.
WHX?? 49,124 #3 Posted May 7, 2020 Wiring on a 400 series is somewhat complicated so a wiring diagram is a must. If not we can get you one or check the manuals section. Need a little more info here, does it crank over?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,090 #4 Posted May 7, 2020 Working on this one now. What is not happening? Garry
chrisnjake9 0 #5 Posted May 7, 2020 it was quit rotted out in the battery box so i i clipped some wires thinking i could put a switch in to jump power to the coil well that didnt work it dose not turn over un less i cross the solonoid but still no spark
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,090 #6 Posted May 7, 2020 There are 2 pto switches and they are identical. One powers the starter circuit and the other powers the ignition when the pto is OFF. With the pto ON the seat switch powers the ignition. Here are the wire locations in the switches. Work on getting the key to make the starter work. When you get that see if you are getting voltage to the (+) coil terminal while cranking. It is not complicated when you disregard the wires going to the idiot lights. They have no affect on the operation of the tractor. They are just a monitoring system. Garry

chrisnjake9 0 #9 Posted May 7, 2020 it looks like the magnets should be attached to the flywheel their not they are on the stator any ideas
