Help with RD Deck ID on 416-8

Recommended Posts

Need help identifying a model number for my deck on my 1994 416-8. Model 73420. Deck roughly measures 36-37” outside to outside. According to the attachment chart the model number should be a 78305. But on parts tree it shows that model number for a 300 series. I’ll hopefully post pictures. I’m Going to need all 3 belts. Drive and both deck belts. Then spindle bearings, blades, and deck wheels. Any part numbers would help. Was 36” a common deck for a 416-8? Seems little. Thanks in advance!

The deck you show is a much older model using the "Double-D" spindle / pulley / blade configuration.  A similar model is 5-0602 from 1975 and here is a schematic of that model . The spindles(2) are cast iron and the spindle bearings (6) are one-piecd design that are pressed into the spindle.

Bearings (6) are # 103119 (need 3 of them) and you'll need a press to install them.

Fo to this website and enter 5-0602 as the model number, then follow the schematis to show belt #s and other stuff..

NOTE... the bearing #103119 is on Ebay in sets of 3...usually $70 bux or so...maybe less.

@daveoman1966 thank you for the reply. I was worried the deck did not fit the same era of the tractor. My grandfather bought the mower new and has now passed on so I don’t know the whole story of when the deck got swapped out. Only has 550hrs on it.  I might look around on here for a 42” Rd since this one is already needing some attention.

yes - 36" deck is small for a 416

36" deck is small for 300 series - especially 312 and up and more so for a 400 - 500 series

there are some that use 37" decks (with grass catcher or whatever) on their 300-400 series tractors - this deck might require the smaller 6" front wheels

how much grass do you cut ?  If not a small yard I would not put a lot of money into a small deck and instead would direct the money toward a larger deck

a good Wheel Horse deck can cost a lot

you can spend less for a deck - but realize the cost of the parts can add significantly  ... Wheel Horse parts were engineered to last and therefore are not cheap
