K91 Wrench 5 #1 Posted May 6, 2020 I have a Suburban 400 that is not running. Bought it on impulse for almost nothing years ago, but never got around to getting it running. Since I have had some time on my hands, I've been working to get it going again. I took the cylinder head off, and found a stuck exhaust valve. (Happy it was nothing worse) I think I got it freed up. So the engine seems like it will run again, but the tractor is missing some parts. Sheet metal like the belt guard, and also the shrouds around the engine. 1
stevasaurus 22,717 #3 Posted May 6, 2020 Welcome to Red Square Want some pictures of that. That missing belt guard acts like a clutch. It funnels the belt drive slack toward the engine pulley so the input shaft on the transmission comes to a stop. Without one, you will grind the gears in the trans.
