formariz 11,987 #1 Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) @Ed Kennell @pfrederiLast few days this bird has been showing up. It’s different than the other blue birds being darker and totally blue. Not a great photo it was too far and took it through binoculars. Edited May 6, 2020 by formariz

Ed Kennell 38,023 #5 Posted May 6, 2020 Probably a bunting. The black mask looks like a blue mockingbird, but they would not be found in the North.
formariz 11,987 #6 Posted May 6, 2020 Never seen him before. He is also not nervous like all others flying in and out of feeder all the time, just staying there a long time eating. 2

You'll get some really cool close up in flight shots.

Ed Kennell 38,023 #13 Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) Monday morning while turkey hunting I saw one of these for the first time. I initially thought it was an Oriole due to the orange underside tail feathers. After checking the book, I'm sure it was a Great Crested Flycatcher. Not my picture. The buntings tend to migrate with flocks of finches.

Finches show up midsummer when my Anisette plants grow seeds. Then I have yellow finches all over them.
