Wheel Weights Year Round?

For those of you running wheel weights on your tractors, do you run them year round? Why or why not?

 

I have a Commando 8 that I'm looking into weights for since I use the tractor to plow. In the summer, I also use it to mow.

 

My lawn is flat, so I dont need the extra traction to prevent sliding. Will weights be bad to run in the summer? Or give me no extra benefit?

Depends on what type of tire you are running. Turf tires pretty much safe to leave them on year round. Ags probaly not so much so. Especially if you have soft ground.

Oooooo  I like those.... kinda in between agressive and mild. I wouldn't be afraid to run weights on them year round.. just watch for spinning you get in wet stuff.

I run AGs fluid filled and cast iron weights year round maybe I'm just too lazy to pull the weights but either way I haven't hurt the yard and on my sub compact diesel mowing machine I run R4s with fluid filled rears again no turf damage only you can be the final judge of what you want to do each fall and spring or not.

We don't mow with our tractors so I can't opine on that.

We keep weights all year for forest in summer and snow in winter.

 

On Cinnamon I run 4 oversized AND fluid filled tires all year.

Fluid weight alone is 255 lbs.

I do rip across my lawns with loaded ags and weights on the plow tractors with no ill effects.  Just wish my visiting plow brethren  would  lift ther plows!

I don’t run wheel weights while mowing because of soil compaction.

Sounds like a good reason to get another horse to use.One with weights for the tasks that require extra traction and one without to mow with.This of course comes from someone who had only one for many years.It was fitted year round with weights and chains even to make my weeds the same heigth..

I run a pair of pretty aggressive rears (SunF G003) and front turfs on my 520, all four corners loaded to the max with washer fluid. Pulls a plow, drags brush and a variety of implemements, rips out stumps, etc... and zero lawn damage while cutting grass, even on steep hills and ditch sides.

Soil compaction not an issue here, its good ole NC clay- weighted or not, its like concrete anyhow haha.

I keep them all year. Once you get used to the ride with weights ,without them it just does not have that solid feeling. Many times I use tractor also to pull a heavily loaded small trailer so its ready all the time. Even devised an attachment to place weights in front using mule drive to improve steering when pulling load.Back of property is a bit bouncy too so weight makes mowing back there a lot easier on my back.
