bub 1 #1 Posted May 4, 2020 Motor starts loping and dies. Can start up and will idle but wont run at full speed or under load. After sitting a day or so it may run perfectly for several mowings. It did it last week. The first time since last summer
lynnmor 7,354 #2 Posted May 4, 2020 Clean the carburetor first thing. If that doesn’t help there are a number of things to do, so report back. Normal maintenance should be performed such as replacing spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel lines, cleaning fuel screen in gas tank and valve adjustment.

Also put some in gas tank. Sea foam sat in carb. for almost a day. When i started it last night it did a lot of smoking but smoothed out and ran good. Hopefully i will be able to try it out tonight
lynnmor 7,354 #6 Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) You poured that Seafoam right into the engine where it slowly went past the rings. I suggest that you do an immediate oil change and quit using powerful solvents. What you need is to learn is how to properly clean a carb before you cause damage. Some of that Seafoam may have gone into the float chamber and dissolved some debris giving you the improved results, but that is just luck and there is still no way of knowing if there is still more debris or if you did some engine damage. Page 7-2 will show you the disassembled carburetor. Edited May 5, 2020 by lynnmor
