Started on building a railway sleeper retaining wall on the drive.

The original concrete brick wall is damaged by frost and water so in covering it as I cant be bothered to rebuild the darned thing.

Will look a lot fresher when it's done.

Sleepers will be held in place by H section steel beams concreted into the ground. Easiest way to rapidly build a wall.

Mowed the whole place again with the 21” Snapper. I am not sure if my belly is getting smaller from all this walking but my tongue is definitely getting longer.

Plugged a tire on the ZTR.  I was digging the woody stalk out of the lug and stabbed my left pointer finger with the tire reamer.  Bled like a stuck pig!

 Pressure washed the decking this morning. Did very little of anything in the afternoon. Just a tad warm at 25c - 77f.

Yesterday and hit 91 in the afternoon. Today you can see it's just shy of that. Tomorrow more of the same. In May. We're over 20 degrees higher than normal.

  Gave the decking a fresh coat of decking oil this morning. I'll give it a second coat tomorrow.

 

 This afternoon been filling in the gaps between the house and the concrete paths around it. Over the 50 years since it was built, the paths have settled a tad. Sloping away from the house base, leaving a 3/4" gap. One of those jobs I've been meaning to do for 22 yrs. Still along the front to do. But that can wait till tomorrow. Its another 25C day.

Serviced the Landlady‘s Mow Cart, 

Sharpened the Blade and correct Height Settings of Mowerdeck.

 

Than i reworked my Sicklebar after we cut last Day‘s a 42m long hedge arround a Buddy‘s Property.

 

 

use this to see if there any Weakpoints at the Sicklebar, but just a riped Screw is found.

Ok that think is several Years old and has it‘s history, but it works very nicely.

 

Even the Blades are still dang sharp.

 

no cuts or breaks after about 100m hedge Trim at all.

 

 

so it‘s time for few new Bolts to become spare in stability.

 

 

 

 

While i play with the Machines,

Probably an old Rabone?

Yes, dressing up an old fireplace and using cabinetry to hide TV and Stereo components. Small job on this one but fireplace mantles are always a bit more complicated than what they look to be.

Today I went with a friend to look at a workshop that was for sale from an estate.

There was a really great lathe, a vertical mill, bandsaw and a whole lot of measuring tools.

The lathe was bought new in 1987 for £2800, at today's prices that around £8000. One owner who didnt make anything with it.

The executor wanted £1400 for the entire contents, we tried to argue him up to a fairer price but he was happy that the machines were going to another engineer and would be looked after, not sold on for a quick buck.

My friend is over the moon as he has never been so lucky, but I think its also about being genuine too as others had been to look at the stuff and had tried to bargain him down.

This wasn’t today, but half a summer in 2016.  I removed a picture window, installed a second slider from the living room to the deck (under the pergola), moved wiring and finished the drywall on the interior.  Outside, I stripped the deck to bare stringers, replaced what was worn then redid the entire deck.  It’s Brazilian Tigerwood and I did a double picture frame on each part of the deck, to create two sitting areas.  Then, I cut cedar pieces to build the pergola and fit it to the integrated roof line of the house.  The railing was an off the shelf kit and I rebuild the stairs as well.  This project bought my dune buggy and put some cash in my pocket at the end of the day.  Fun stuff!

 

I wish I had a picture of the decking surface, it was awesome!

  We have metal railings along the front of our decking, over looking the pond. These were salvaged from a job a mate and I did, maybe 15 yrs ago.

  Sid and the girls are no longer with us.

 

 

  Painting is not my favourite job and the railings are long over due a freshen up. This morning I decided to bite the bullet and went and got some paint. No way was I going to be scratting about on my knees, so I removed one section.

  Set too with scraper and wire brush to remove the rust and flaking paint, as much as I could, then a coat of paint.

 

Four hours later.

 

 

  And NO! I haven't missed bits. That's sunlight shining on the paint. Tomorrow a second coat then start on another section.
