Norm. I can cut the body down and fit a longer top pipe.

Im working on a rain flap, or I could just make an angled top pipe.

Rain flap that fits right would be your best bet.

Angled pipe will still let in water from that side direction.

@pullstart how'd that work??

Sat, shifted, steered.  A lot.  Then got a bit hot at the Atlanta traffic during rush hour.  All is well!

Did the same as yesterday. Over to my mates in Scotland. Chap was coming with a telehandler and we were going to get the damaged, front axleless MF tractor into the workshop.

Anyway, he couldn't make it, so we did a couple of jobs in the workshop and I came home two hours earlier. What a difference from last night. Home in an hour instead of an hour and a half.

Two round trips into Manhattan for me this week to places where I'm donating some time and expertise. Surprisingly, traffic was moderate (meaning not crawling for miles and miles). It really is a crapshoot whether it'll be 70 minutes' or 100+ minutes' drive. Absent Covid, I'd be taking commuter rail and the subway. Still and all, I'm hoping not to have to do this again until after the new year.

me and traffic... like oil and water.  I’ll take a longer route for the sanity of my vehicle still moving.

In my personal vehicle that's how I am. Trucking pays by the hour so I don't care about a traffic jam....

Rush hour in Atlanta is 24/7.      Had to go down to the Florida panhandle to bring a friend home and went through Atlanta at 4:00 am, traffic was bumper to bumper five lanes wide, but it was moving 70 MPH.       :scared-eek:            I hate driving in Atlanta.

If you have to make the Daytona to Michigan trip again I would suggest I-95, I-26, I-40, I-65, I-69.

That's the thing about Manhattan and the NYC metro area in general, many times there is no "longer but moving" route.

I rely on Waze and so far it has done me well (though I'll admit some of its routes have been counter intuitive).  Wednesday it had me get off an expressway and go back the way I came for several miles and then take a different set of roads--probably an eight mile detour plus an extra toll.  Later, stopped at a traffic light, I looked at the original route and saw a crash had blocked the expressway and the backup was a couple of miles long--dodged at least an hour of going nowhere at all.

Problem for me travelling to and from my mates, though he's only 20 miles away, due to being on the opposite side of the estuary, it's 54 mile round. 20 miles of that is the main Irish ferry route, to and from the M74 and two lane. HVG vehicles are limited to 40mph. Get behind two or three of those and you've no chance of getting past easily.

Apart from the motorways, (M roads) we don't have the wide freeways the US has.

That's how most of Maine is too. Other than lack of convenience I like it that way.

Darn Mother Nature putting all these inconvenient obstacles like estuaries and the Hudson River right in our way, eh? :)

And the "wide freeways" are a very mixed blessing. They lull us into thinking we can live far from our work or, at the drop of a hat, just drive to places far away with no thought to the extra traffic we create to the places enroute. I'm forced to admit guilt on this.

Spent a morning machining today.

Made a little flap valve for Fred's exhaust stack.

Nothing too fancy but more than the thin tat I saw on ebay.
