Achto 27,577 #5551 Posted April 9, 2023 Day and week 4 of my IH 656 project. A few trials & tribulations today. The POS engine lift failed & every thing went flopping over on to the ground. Luckily it was not very high off the ground and there was only minor scraps on the engine. Used a skid loader to put every thing right again. After the engine was bolted to the transmission, getting the front end lined up was also a fun job. Despite the set backs, I managed to get the ol' girl back on all 4's. A few odds and ends left before I can turn the key. Wife says "no garage on Easter" so I guess it will be on to day & week 5 next weekend.

Beap52 811 #5553 Posted April 9, 2023 I'm sitting here before going to church to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I'm reflecting on our lives and this country that my son fought for. The richest man that lived in Jesus' day could of only dreamed of what we take for granted today. Electricity, refrigeration, running water, cell phones, computers, flushing toilets, as simple as our Wheel Horses are, that would be a to them what the space shuttle is to us. After church we are going to our daughter's house for lunch and spend time with our grandbabies and my mom, the only parent we have left. Whether we believe that Jesus was the son of God or not, we need to take time to spend with those who love us because time on this planet is short. 1 2

Dan.gerous 2,696 #5555 Posted April 9, 2023 Thinned the herd out a bit by selling one of the C125's with its rotovator. Really sad to see it go, but need the room and a few less projects. Took it up to work for onward delivery further north in Scotland. That said....I just brought an older C something with implements. Pictures and details soon. 8

ebinmaine 67,516 #5557 Posted April 9, 2023 (edited) I spent some time in the outdoor workshop getting chainsaws ready. My Stihl MS180C threw the chain last fall when it got pinched in a tree. Happens. The internal teeth had a few small dings that were causing it to fetch up a bit as it passed through the drive gear. Filed them down and put the little bugger to cuttin'. Works fine but needs a tuneup. I used that saw and my Echo 33cc for one tank of gas, each. I laid down quite a few small trees brush etc and a few medium sized ones. All this is being done to help the sunlight for the garden and also to clear the area where the gray portable garage will be. Trina and her Momma worked on building a greenhouse out of the frame of the old tan portable garage. They removed a section so it's 15 or 16 ft long now. The plan is to use onsite materials to build up table-benchy things in there. She added a row of rocks on each side to hold the whole thing down. In other news, our acreage is starting to wake up for spring. We have a pair of snakes hanging around with each other. Also, the frog pond I've been wanting most of my life is beginning to show signs of new life. We have at least one tadpole and the frogs are singing. 8ntruck 7,006 #5558 Posted April 9, 2023 Not exactly today, but recent progress on my front porch project. Got all of the long rafters up and am starting on the short rafters on the sides of the porch. 7 3
Pullstart 62,897 #5559 Posted April 11, 2023 @ebinmaine I came across a snake yesterday myself! It’s always a bit startling, but then we have a chat about them keeping mice away and I’ll provide plenty of comfort and tranquility on the property! 1

Achto 27,577 #5563 Posted April 13, 2023 Instead of waiting until the weekend I decided to spend a few hours after work the last couple of days to finish my 656 project up. Engine purrs like a kitten at idle, roars like a lion at full speed. Always love the feeling I get when I start up an engine that I have rebuilt. Put about 3/10's on the hour meter doing heat cycles & driving around a little bit. She will be back in the field by tomorrow doing some work with a lite disc harrow. Feels good to have this off my plate, now maybe I can get some work done on my stuff. 5
Stormin 9,981 #5564 Posted April 13, 2023 Usual Thursday been over the Border to my mate Dunc's place. I never really know what we will be doing. Could be working in the workshop on one of his Land Rovers or farm tractors or maybe some landscaping. There's also the logging. Today we were splitting logs. Dunc was operating the tractor mounted log splitter and I was keeping him supplied with logs. I reckon we got over 5 ton split and put away in around 5 hours work. Tomorrow I will spend the day recovering. I really must stop listening to my head thinking I'm still 19 and take more notice of my body telling me I'm not. 5 2
