Man did my chipper/vac make the loudest screeching sound when this paddle let go. Luckily they still sell aftermarket kits. All good to go back to work at the branch pile. Should last another 30 years. And now I have 3 spares.

Thanks Norm. I'll pass that along.  

She's had the idea for several years now. 

There are places in our forest that we'd like to set up cabin tents as little get-aways. 

The new loo would be nice to have out there.  

 

It'll first get used for her daughter's wedding here next month then be relegated to the original intended position.  

 

I ask about the engine because I understand some Sears used a Tecumseh.  

I'm fiddling around with one of my '74 C160-8 Tec powered tractors. 

I cleaned out the carb and put a Facet electric fuel pump on. 

It'll start and run for a bit then makes some interesting popping and dies out.  

 

I'm leaning towards retrofitting a Kohler #30 carb off a C160 to see what happens.  

Today I'll check the flywheel pin clearance then see about the carb swap.

Got out in our 20 acres of woods today with my chain saw.  I dropped the trees in the clearing for the shop building I started last fall that were too big for my brush blade.  Again, I was ready to quit when the saw's gas tank ran out - good design work on the saw, there.  Two of the trees were cedars.  Think I will just limb those and roll the logs out of the way, as they are a good size for possible use in a structure of some sort.

Along the way, I found one of nature's oddities in one of the pieces of brush.  Notice how one stick is growing through a branch at almost 90 degrees:

 

 

I'll probably be back out there tomorrow tossing more brush onto the growing brush pile and making short ones out of long ones.

  Went over to my mates in Scotland this morning as usual for a Thursday. First job was to mount the P.T.O. saw onto the tractor. MF farm tractor BTW. Filled a dumpy bag full of logs from a heap of branches. Then swapped the saw for the log splitter. With that we filled four more dumpy bags from the heap of cut up tree trunks. About two and a half ton for four hours work.

  There's about 20T at least of ash trees to come down due to ash die back. Keep the home fires going for a while.

Nice low hours on that 416, but kind of weathered all around. To high a price for me!

Despite low hours, the rust, dings and dents would indicate neglect or indifference to me and cause me concern about hidden issues.

Back out to our woods this afternoon.  Temperature was about 90.  Worked a couple of hours, mostly piling the brush from the trees I cut down yesterday.  Got out the pull along and ratchet straps to skid the cedar logs out of the way.  Didn't work out too well.  Broke a couple of the ratchet straps and lost the nut off of the drum pivot bolt on the come along.  Was pretty wiped out by then and took that as a sign that I should call it a day.  While walking the 700 feet or so out of the woods, I started mentally marking the trees that will have to be removed for the driveway.  Man, I'll have a lifetime supply of firewood after that project.

  SWMBO has been hinting for some time, about a new fence along the front of the garden. So this morning went out and bought eight sections of picket fencing 6ft long x 4ft. The posts I'll get in the morning from a local wood yard.

  This afternoon I started cutting down a big leylandi bush. Just the stump and roots to get out now. Wasn't going to tackle them. 27C = 80.6 F. A tad warm for me. Last time I can remember this hot was in 1978-97. 

  Took SWMBO and some of her paintings for an art exhibition in a seaside village just down the coast. Pleasant, cooling drive down the coast road with all the car windows open.
