Sorry to rain on your refund party Jimmy, but that dollar your getting back is worth about half of what it was when you paid it a year ago.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,317 #3679 Posted February 19, 2022 @Ed Kennell I figured it was worth about $0.25 on the dollar . May be able to fill up the gas tank if I am lucky.

OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #3682 Posted February 20, 2022 Had to take a break from a K241 disassembly project so the boy and I hit the woods for some 22 plinking and a tailgate lunch. It was a good call! 4 1

Since a large part of gasoline prices is taxes, I am not "lucky" because the bulk of the tax money doesn't benefit me in any way.

Just the same for us, my friend. The bulk is tax. But your still getting more for your money.
Mickwhitt 4,641 #3686 Posted February 20, 2022 God Norm, wish you hadn't posted the price per gallon! I remember my grandad having a fit when the pump price hit 50p a gallon in the 70s. I don't know what he'd make of it now, I think he would probably push the car around!

Ifixoldjunk 778 #3697 Posted February 20, 2022 I’ve found a new thing to obsess over, old chainsaws. I’ve only had this one a week and now I’m looking for more. Can’t let it be lonely on the shelf now can I?

Unlike tractors, they’re small enough to easily accumulate in quantity, so why not? Didn’t you pick that one out of the trash? I had an old McCulloch for which I couldn’t get parts. Apparently they got into a period in which the number of distinct parts exceeded their ability to catalog and/or produce them. They complexificated the brand into extinction or something. I like my Stihl; it’s reliable and parts (rarely needed) are readily available. Some of the old timey saws are incredibly cool machines, like this monstrosity:
