What did you do today?

Handy Don

Was about to rake soggy leaves piled up in a couple hundred feet of gutter and thought, I wonder if...

And it worked like a champ!

I converted to mulching a few years ago, too, and I mulch what's on the lawn (I'm waiting for the last of the leaves to drop before stashing the mowers for the winter). These leaves are just the accumulation from street trees that line the street.

I thank you for the welcome. Certainly august company!

You guys may want to install a rubber on the blad when doing leaves.

My rear grader has a rubber band , a part from a conveyor belt to preserve the asphalt.

Just my :twocents-twocents:

Don't think it would be the best for snow tho....

I think... tires spinning depend on how much you outweigh the leaves... or... in my case... how many cookies I have been eating lately... :laughing-rolling:

But no, on a serious note... even with my pulley swaps... oddly enough, I don't have issues with tire spin. I have pulled leaves, pulled the zero turn out of the pond (it wasn't all the way in the pond...)... and my tires don't spin... :dunno:

Really, the only time my tires spin is when I put it in third, and... intentionally spin them... :auto-layrubber:

Don

If I do that, wheelie-time! hahah

I have a pvc wear blade on the bottom of the one I use for leaves… new concrete driveway I’m looking to protect…

That's true, I forget!

couldn't see it on the pic, We have had an excavator at our place to plant trees. Our 2 year old asphalt ruined by the bucket!

And the deer took a hydraulic pie on it as well! Wasn't easy to clean-up.

Yep. It was an experiment, and it was on the street, not my driveway or yard. I left mere scratches compared to the scrape marks the village's giant Case loader makes picking up the piles.

Went over to my mate Dunc's place in Scotland. Spent a four happy hours processing fire wood. Made short work of a couple of ton or so, with tractor mounted saw attachment then swapped it for the log splitter.

If I'd done that amount with my saw bench and log splitter, it would've taken me two days at least.

Been really wild weather here. 45+mph winds with 65mph gusts. Chill factor has been down to -6C. Not ventured out much. Just to replenish the log pile by the house and to walk the dog.

Halfway down the bridleway that runs past our place, a nice big tree has been uprooted. Leaning across the track and being stopped from going further by a tree on the opposite side. Going to be interesting taking it down.

We spent the day in the middle of our 20 acres of woods near Bowling Green, Ky.  Had our Thanksgiving dinner with our youngest son out on the 'homestead'.

Roasted the turkey and cooked all the fixens over a fire.

Wandered around the property looking for a place to build our house there.  Found a couple of potential sites, but they create questions about setback requirements from the property lines.  Got some research to do with the county government on this one.  Luckly, the property line in question runs between the 2 ten acre lots we own,  so, I'm my own neighbor in this case.

All in all, a pretty good day.

The BBT and I have rough camped with a friend of ours quite a few times.

They've prepped many a meal over a fire. A very different science to it.

We do thoroughly enjoy just living to be alive.

Good luck with your County interactions.

I thought I'd tackle that fallen tree I mentioned yesterday, today. But the fates ruled otherwise. For the first time in a long while it started to snow this morning.

So this afternoon I took some photo's of it instead.P1040015.JPG.df486dd9eaa7f5e971f65a6a2f3805e4.JPG

Professional loggers refer to those as "widow makers" since the lean and interaction with other trees makes their fall very unpredictable.

Plan A is to cut off as much weight as I safely can. Making sure I've a good escape route. Then get one of the lads from the farm round the corner with the telehandler, to push it over and down onto the bridleway. May be a few weeks yet.

Been up at the farm today. Repairing a 9ft x 9ft box section cubicle shed door frame ready for re-sheeting. Pleased there's some younger bodies up there for doing the lifting/carrying. :)

:text-yeahthat: I'm looking for a Daisy model 25 for myself.  Probably have to order one, as I can't find one in a brick & morter store. :(
