Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2128 Posted May 20, 2021 I always have carb issues with small engines, like weed eaters etc. Must be our ethanol concentrations here locally and our winter weather. Never get more than a season before havin to go through everything all over again...grrr. Finally got myself a battery powered weed eater for the routine stuff!
Horse Newbie 7,069 #2129 Posted May 20, 2021 If you can't find non-ethanol gas, I would run it dry before long term storage. I can get non-ethanol, and I use Sta-bil just for good measure. Anything that sits months with cranking gets run dry before storage
Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2130 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Thats what I do for the stuff only I run. but, you know how it it is, so n so needs ta borrow this an that and they don't return it till theres snow on the ground, or put it away without following instructions. Then Mrs wonders why the weed eater or little generator wont start. UGHH. Only I tend to the mid size stuff, mini bikes, chipper, auger etc. All those I kill the fuel feed, let the carb run dry and add some stabil if there's fuel left in the tank. Dug only gets non-ethanol lol Edited May 20, 2021 by Wheel Horse 3D
Horse Newbie 7,069 #2131 Posted May 20, 2021 Yes...I hear ya loud and clear... I have a pressure washer. Had it maybe 3 years...the pump went out. The pump had built up that white stuff that gets on aluminum since aluminum doesn't rust. I had not adhered to the manual which said to use "pump saver" for long term storage. Also after the first winter would not crank...that's when I started running it dry before storage. After the pump replacement (I ordered of Fleabay) I started priming the pump with pink RV antifreeze(cheaper than pump saver) before storing.

No other chemicals needed.

Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2134 Posted May 20, 2021 our non ethanlol is just so 'spensive. I have found though that all our local stations are NOT equal in ethanol content on their gasoline. So I've selected the lowest concentrations station to shop at. A few cents more maybe, but not 30 percent more like the full non ethanol.
Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2135 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) I do need to do something about gettin those weed eaters goin', I just don't look forward to the busted knuckles that result EVERY time I tear into somethin! LOL Other day helped son troubleshoot a shoot a weed eater he picked up trom TSC. He bought it half price and we had it goin in an hour or so. He saved over a hundred, and it cost ME sore knuckles.(they had inverted the disk right behind the replaceable head, so you couldnt put a pin in to keep it from spinning and overtightened it so id put too much drag, flipped it, works perfect.) Maybe I need to try some of Dennis' seafoamish concoction, Or maybe do somethin custom with those ingredients for cleanin these up. I have a great small engine shop that "reads" them better than I do. There are folks on here such as @Digger 66 that speak 2 stroke.
Jeff-C175 7,202 #2137 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Slow but steady progress... Quite the improvement if I do say so: OLD Replaced all the rotted window frame with pressure treated, reproduced sash, primed and glass installed. I've forgotten how much fun it is playing with glazing putty! But it's like riding a bicycle or sending Morse Code (CW), the skill returns quickly. AND REPAIRED: There will be 1X4 trim around this when finished, and of course I'll caulk/seal all those openings first. While waiting for the PT wood to dry out enough to put some paint on it, I'm starting on the other window. Edited May 21, 2021 by Jeff-C175 2

lynnmor 7,306 #2139 Posted May 20, 2021 Found a wallet on the road and picked it up. There was only $103.50 cash in it but a ton of credit cards. Dropped it off at the police station and got a call about an hour later from a grateful lady. If there would have been a phone number inside we could have cut out the middleman.
Stormin 9,981 #2140 Posted May 20, 2021 Been over at my mate's in Scotland. Been fitting a new door on his MF that ran away. The one below. Those doors are heavy and it put up a real fight to go on. Eventually we won. Found why two of the cab mounted work lights wouldn't. Need replacing so new ones to be got. With the new tombstone and the axle etc back on it looks more like it's old self. 2

Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2143 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Nice! Love the batten and board look! Might borrow some of those framing ideas there, nice utilization of larger timbers. Edited May 20, 2021 by Wheel Horse 3D
Stormin 9,981 #2144 Posted May 20, 2021 You should see the workshop. It's finished now apart from a roller shutter door.

Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #2149 Posted May 20, 2021 NIce! very efficient use of materials there! No roof decking, no additional stringers, the box sheets of course probably cost a bit more, but add the rigidity for those longer spans between the rafters(3ft or so?). Nicely done!
Stormin 9,981 #2150 Posted May 20, 2021 I need to make a correction. Those sheets have a sandwich of insulation between them.
