What did you do today?

Mick, sorry for you and yours’ loss!  It is never fun, but a great reminder to live life to your best ability!  A country song I relate to (happens a lot) is “Life Off My Years” by Lee Brice.  There are lines such as “What’s the use of life if you ain’t livin’?  You sip your water, I’ll drink my beer.”  It’s a reminder to live, laugh and love to the best of your ability!  There’s no time to grudge or stay angry, it helps nothing.

I am at my buddy’s house today.  He had some flood damage and lost some of his bamboo flooring.  He found a near perfect match, except the end tongue and groove is backwards.  I plant to build a fence / jig with my skillsaw to fix that on the adjoining pieces.

Woodwork is not my strong suit, prefer metal in many ways.

But I did fit a new door 🚪 in my kitchen over the weekend.

Aluminium frame so I had to let the hinges into the door much deeper than usual as I could not cut into the frame.

Used a router to cut the pockets for the hinges.

Yesterday was a busy day..like most of them!

319069173_IMG_43611.JPG.0843b51865e0ed1e6cd84a9e2c5184f1.JPG

Sanded 4 doors for my sons house while enjoying the lake channel view from my shop.

1112001942_IMG_43621.JPG.30c08c7e11e399bd016fe744eb47c3b5.JPG

Sprayed them with lacquer sanding sealer

Re-sanded and re-sprayed them with semi-gloss lacquer.

I love the fast drying nature of spraying lacquer!

@pullstart  yep for the Porter Cable.  As Jableman said, one piece of the puzzle at a time. I now have the correct seat, a parts transmission (the one on it is stuck in gear and had a lot of water in it)  rear fenders, and a rear hub.

A K181 8 hp starter generator engine is on my wish list, but it might stay with the Briggs rope start if the Briggs runs when I get to it. (Actually I have 3 projects I wish I could find K181 starter/generator engines for).

In the upper storage loft/room above my shop I have a large box for each of my upcoming projects. I have a notebook/spreadsheet of what I know each project needs (at least the obvious things)   While my wife is supportive/tolerant of this hobby, since I'm gradually buying parts for them there is not such a huge expenditure or a lot of boxes in the mail at one that might raise an eyebrow.

@oliver2-44 I think I finally completed piecing the puzzle for my 57 bolens.  A k181 would be nice in a Porter Cable.  The original was the briggs 143302 5 3/4hp if you see one out there

Gettin’ my plumber’s crack on today...  It’s not very often the mechanicals are upstairs but that’s the way it’s working out here.  My FIL will be building a larger drip pan to go under the water heater and wall mounted unit with integrated drain spout if ever need be.

This wall will be the backdrop on a live TV episode on Wednesday.  It needs tile finished and two shelves made.

I made it official. I put up my sign that I got from Terry several years ago. My pole building is now officially the Wheel Horse building.

Progress made.  He mixes spirits and needs more organization on display.

So, if the cabinets are a wee bit “off” you can blame the level stand because it was “tipsy”...? :confusion-confused:

Found a bolt in the camper tire... looks a little worn.  Plugged and set to 80 psi for inspection before the trip to Uncle Jim’s!

Rode my youngest granddaughter for the first time on one of the Wheel Horse tractors!  Sophia could not get enough of the riding in the cart!

After riding she had to try out every Tractor parked in the garage !

She then started in on helping  me with some work on RJ parts!

Thats what I did with the Wheel Horses today!
