What did you do today?

  You should see the road to Silloth, Mark. Been very quiet for 8wks except for HGV's and locals. Today you'd have thought it was a Bank Holiday with the traffic.

  "We can go anywhere now". "Let's go to the seaside".  "Let's stop at this village shop on our way".

  A neighbour went there for some milk today. She said it was really busy and the lasses serving said it's been chaotic. And not with locals.

 

  Also hear today a woman in the next hamlet, a mile and a half away, has just died from Covic-19. 

 

Back on topic. Got the lean to roof felted.

Still on Topic. Needed to change a valve on a dish machine booster heater today. Nice NO FLOOR DRAIN! 

 

This valve is in a fun place to get at! 

 

 

No vise either had to wrestle with it on the floor of the van

Laid my block paving back down today, will sand and vibrate it tomorrow.

Then it's just tidying up and get rid of the skip.

Trying to figure out how to assemble barn door and still move around in shop. This is actually a normal occurrence here.

 Yesterday got the leanto roof felted.

 

 

 Got that done by lunch time, so started on the next job. New lids for the coal bunker.

 

 I got two 14ft lengths of 3/4" x 5" T&G when I got the Stirling board. So I cut that into the required lengths. Good bit of planning there. Two 4" pieces of scrap off each plank. To be honest, just lucky.

  Today I assembled the lids and felted them. There's been two pine bed frame sides in the workshop loft ever since I built it. Those went to make the front of the bunker frame. Just don't tell SWMBO.  The original front one went to the back and they are now secured in place.

 

 

 

  Need some hinges and screws, so hopefully I'll get those tomorrow. Also need two boards for the sides.

   Thanks!   Not perfect but it'll do the job.

   I need to put a couple of strips along the front and back to raise the lids in the centre. You can see how they slope to the middle. Something to do today.

 They talk about it, Phil. But if they do, how do we heat the house? Electric is no good with the power cuts we tend to get in the winter, plus the cost of it. And no gas supply out here.

  But as you'll know, no one lives outside of London, the towns and cities.

I've just discovered this thread.  Interesting.

 

Some of these projects are similar to my project's lately.  On Easter Sunday, a clogged drain turned into a 10' trench in my basement floor for a pipe replacement.

 

More recently, it rained for two days here in Michigan.  It raised the lake level about 6", and apparently, the level of the ground water as well - water has been seeping into my basement between the slab and block walls.  I started with a mop and bucket.  Then the cave man in me said "ugh, mop bucket bad.  Power tool good.  Get wet/dry vac."  Frequent vacuumings yesterday and today.  Hopefully, the ground water will recede soon.

 

In between vacuum sessions, I went down to the lake house to get the water system de-winterized.  While tightening up the union (PVC part) on the pressure tank, I got it too tight and broke it.  Replaced it with an iron union.  Turned the well pump on, and discovered a plastic fitting three fittings away had sprung a leak.  Late in the day, no spares.  Tomorrow's project is re-working the plumbing between the pump and pressure tank to fix the leak and make it easier to work on.

 

I am getting tried of hearding water!

When things subside replace that iron union with a brass one. That union will rust and send rust throughout your system.
