Ed Kennell 40,264 #7826 Posted March 11 I declared winter is over. Pulled the battery out of the snow machine and got the 310-8 fired up after a winter nap. My neighbor is rolling dirt all day. Used the 310 to get the splitter in position to work up the last blow down. Got the wood stacked and cleaned up the yard and rolled down the frost bumps. Ready to mow in a couple weeks.

I remember contests for who would guess when the ice would break up on Lake Winnisquam. I also remember trucks falling through the ice when people left their bob houses out a bit too long, and then tried to get them. It hit 70 here today. I'll take this weather over New England weather, except for the dead middle of summer! Today I spent another few hours working on the sandblaster. (Partial disassembly, seal seams, remove glass, and cut down the support screen so it sits several inches lower.). I'm questioning the wisdom in trying to save some money by modifying a cheap Harbor Freight sandblaster. I've got a lot of hours into it, and more to go. I'll make that decision when it's up and running. Edited March 11 by Pete D

As I learn to tolerate whatever syndrome I've developed I have to admit I just CAN'T tolerate temps above the low 80s anymore. HyperPete 424 #7832 Posted March 12 (edited) Yeah, it gets brutally hot here in summer. It's no longer infrequent to see temps near 100 with ultra high humidity. Needless to say, the A/C gets a major workout in the summer time. Since it's adding over $200 a month to the electric bill, I think we're going to replace it with a new more efficient model this year. The existing one is probably 20 years old, and whoever designed and installed it must have been smoking crack. Edited March 12 by Pete D

HyperPete 424 #7834 Posted March 12 (edited) Uhhhhh, no? It gets too hot to ride motorcycles, and our tiny pool gets too hot to swim in. Edited March 12 by Pete D

rjg854 11,861 #7837 Posted March 12 Never cared for temps over 80 and the humidity that usually accompanies it.

Ed Kennell 40,264 #7839 Posted March 12 Woke up at 4AM and headed South. Ate lunch at the worlds biggest tourist trap. Rolled into Myrtle Beach SC at 4PM.
HyperPete 424 #7840 Posted March 12 Worked MORE on the sandblaster. After partial disassembly yesterday and partial seam sealing with construction adhesive, I reassembled today (with more construction adhesive. Then, I covered all of the seams from the exterior with reinforced HVAC tape. Knurled thumb nuts for the glass, protective plastic sheets for the glass, and better led lighting arrive tomorrow. The foot pedal & blast handle arrived today, so tomorrow I hope to finish with it if time permits. 3

wallfish 17,397 #7842 Posted March 16 Finally a nice day on the weekend and instead of doing some tractor tinkering, I had to change the damaged door on a van because some maroon couldn't see the big white van while backing up their huge overgrown pickup truck. Put a used and less damaged door on. 1

Put a used and less damaged door on. I got to do that to my mom's car a few years ago. We made out like bandits on that deal. Some geni-ass tried to pass her on the left, while she was signaling and executing a left turn, in front of my house, while I watched. His insurance cut us a check against the body shop estimate for a brand new door, paint, labor, etc. About $1500 IIRC. Then I spent the next two years watching car-part.com for a door the correct color to come along and got it for about $300. Swapped it myself in 10 minutes, and we pocketed the difference.

ebinmaine 70,351 #7849 Posted March 20 Yesterday evening we got the insulation tape installed in the countertop for the stove and also put a foam strip around the glass at the bottom of the stove top. You can barely see that but zoom in it's there. We also ran the wire for the stove from the electric breaker box to the location.
Mickwhitt 4,964 #7850 Posted March 20 First day of spring here today! It was a gorgeous morning at our community garden, sunny and warm. Our 20 year old volunteer said it was too hot for him to work outdoors and he promptly left. Curiously a couple of weeks ago it was too cold for him to work outdoors. I'm thinking of calling him Goldilocks. But to be honest he wouldn't work in an iron lung! They wonder why tigers eat their cubs. Mick
