I SCORED! at my local hardware store today. Total price was under $50 (during the last day of their sale, 90% off!). The phone holder was $2.50, the 6 gallon water heater for my shop was $38, drill bits ranged from 35 cents to $2.50 for the big wood bit on the left. A buck for the broom handle. $1.49 for a qt of 30 wt for my push mower, plus an air filter & "Toro" spark plug. 50 cents for the jigsaw blades, $1.49 for the sink sprayer (for my shop sink with a clogged sprayer.)

No, it was a selection of items only.  Most was junk.  There's a small dent on the top of the water heater, I'm sure that's why it was included

The "moving to here" date for Trina's Momma has been moved up to April 1st. 

 

We've spent all day organizing and moving things from the basement to the new workshop or the shed (which will be the woodworking shop).
Started with shoveling snow to make & widen paths. We moved 
3 engines. 1 transmission. 1 hydro pump. A 7 ft long x 30" transmission workbench.  Several totes. Metal for projects. Wood for projects. Disassembly of things.  Brought a slew of old boxes and trash out. More I can't even remember .....
I tried to carry in both directions whenever possible.  I'm plumb tuckered and got a LOT done.

Plumbing in our MI. location.  Pulled the drain pipes under the sink out, all clear.  Ran my 20 foot manual snake into the pipe.  Went all the way in with noresistance, so the clog is further I to the system.

 

The sink drains into a dry well.  As far as I know, it had been running trouble free for as long as I can remember.  The 1 1/2" pipe from the sink goes into a 3" iron pipe through the basement wall into the dry well.  Of course the clean out plug did not loosen up, as it probably not been taken out since it was put in when the house was built.  Going to have to go midevil on it to get it out - kind of like getting the exhaust pipe out of a K series. 

 

Before I do that, I think I'll wait until the spring thaw, as the pipe goes through the basement wall well above the frost line.  It has been pretty cold lately, and we haven't been here but a few days at a time.  There is a good possibility that the pipe froze up.

Today was working 6:30-11 then doing some stuff around the House, I was also spitballing ideas about a modified mowing deck rear mounted bush hog and making a skidder out of some unused tractor parts with @ebinmaine.

Cashman’s (Ace) Hardware in East Berlin.  It was their annual “yard sale.”

I’m really surprised they were dumping Irwin drill bits.  Even more surprised at the water heater.  I looked at that very unit on their shelves last autumn and decided it was much too expensive for my needs.

Our DIY store sometimes does a clearance item sale and there can be some huge bargains. Unfortunately sometimes I but things that might come in handy but sit for a long time. 

I still have a bag of M20 washers that were a few quids. M20! Come on Mike, M8 is the biggest bolt you use! 

But Mrs W nicked a load of them to use as weights for holding down her sewing patterns.

Not a political dig at all, but reading about president Musks requirement to list 5 accomplishments from all federal staff or consumer yourself unemployed I cast my mind back to my previous life in law enforcement. 

In a typical week I would probably have written...

Mon. Made tea for the group. Dealt with theft of a toy car from someone's garden.

Tues. Made tea for the group. Stood by a scene for seven hours telling people there was nothing to see.

Weds.  Made tea for the group. Dealt with a missing teenager, who had been missing 35 times previously. 

Thurs. Made tea for the group. Spent seven hours dealing with a prolific shoplifter, compiling a detailed file. CPS (our current prime ministers old job) decided there was no public interest in prosecution of a juvenile who clearly had social issues.

Fri. Made tea for the group. Spent all day writing reports to keep myself out of the sh1t with professional standards (internal affairs?). 

Sat. Wrote this daft email back to you, please don't sack me, I'm only doing my best. 

I wonder if Mrs W sent me a similar email what I would be able to write...

 

Mon. Made tea for you. Washed up, fed the dogs, saw to your dad's meds, tidied the house, went to the market, lit the fire, made supper, washed up, watched telly, went to bed.
