I hope to make it to the outer banks soon. Nice out there.

Ocean has been strange. Waves breaking right on the sand making it dangerous for boogie boarding and body surfing. Only have today and tomorrow left for good surf, but I'm not holding out hope. Everyone else loves OBX, but I think I'm done with it. Too much traffic, restaurants are hit or miss.

In between rain drops and doing 748 other things Trina got a coat of Rust-Oleum 2X  Nutmeg color on a lawn ornament deer she's fixing up for my momma.

She also started the destruction process on the old forest access bridge this morning.

Unloaded a bunch of cr#p at the manure pile at our friendly neighbour farmer.

So I got to drive a tractor and the weather is perfect at 23°C/73°F, no clouds, bit of wind. Good day in my book.

Haven't done anything yet today.

Yesterday we went and grabbed a dryer that a friend's relative was giving away, then spent most of the rest of the day cleaning out the garage. I got the best, most confused look I have ever seen from my wife in the 20 years I've know her when I said we could just stick the spare dryer in the garage and hook it up out there, and then pointed to the 220V outlet. She could not for her life figure out why I had one out there.

Then I took the boy and his one friend fishing for a few hours before dinner.

Today looks like more cleaning after church. I never got to addressing the sorry state of my tool box.

Not today, but I finally remembered to take pictures,     and we all know if you don't have pictures it didn't happen.

Following my stroke I have been using a walker and don't have good balance,          so            lowering and raising the heavy ramp on my trailer was going to present a problem. I bought a pair of garage door springs, ten feet of PVC and a couple of pulleys and solved that problem for about $ 60.00.  Works so well I don't know why I didn't do it years ago.

You can buy kits that do the same thing for a LOT more than you invested. Nice work!

Same materials, old garage door springs and PVC pipe, and a different design.    Works great.

Spent the day at the ocean with the family and friends. Luckily it’s only about a 15-20 minute drive. Absolutely beautiful! The weather and water were perfect! I can’t believe it’s Labor Day already!

My holiday week end project.

About a month er so ago I took my Saturn SL2 in for tires and was informed that there was an issue that had to be addressed before they would put new tires on. I was asked to come into the shop & check things out. I walked under the lift to see this treasure.

IMG_20240901_063306825.jpg.73a5e7dfbec99f186cd91da83be2ec70.jpg

The rest of the underbody of the car was in great shape so I set out to find a new/used K-frame for my work buggy. This turned out to be a bit difficult in Wisconsin. A salvage yard answered my search with what they said was a "good" frame. I stopped in to see what they had & well it wasn't good but it was better than what I had to work with. The hard to reproduce U shape of the frame was good but the bottom not so much. Price was agreed on & I took it home.

My "new" K-frame, and my holiday weekend project.

IMG_20240818_083440154.jpg.1ad4903bb9b23edf2e89d2299934fc16.jpg

You can see that there is some rust issues. You can also see in the pic above that I have already made 2 cuts in the bottom of this "new" frame. This is the section that I planed to cut out & replace. The factory used 16ga metal to construct this whole frame. I opted to used 14ga metal for my replacement part. Removed the bad section, cut the new piece, & welded it in place.

IMG_20240818_142833697_HDR.jpg.17296f05926f4cf53baad59055b03f44.jpg

A little paint to make it look good as new.

IMG_20240818_154027625_HDR.jpg.0ba45ed0f73fb129577be5c24b613e69.jpg

With that much out of the way it was time to remove the old K-frame & discover just how badly rusted it was. Scary to think that I was driving this car. Glad it didn't fall apart while goin down the road.

IMG_20240902_103520842.jpg.97b05660e22fe9da892b994fad029364.jpg

Took around 8hrs. to do the frame swap. Should be safe to drive for another 100k miles.:handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend. I know I had enough labor for one weekend.:D

That is why all of my vehicles that ever see road salt get oil sprayed every year.

this holiday weekend I went to old thrashers in mount pleasent Iowa, would recommend, it was amazing expiceally for the first time, stuff everywhere, not just a show there's was trains and trolleys and a few little villages and setup train robberies and bank robries and a log village, it was amazing, then today I went and picked up a 58 professional toro a 58 inch reel mower and the front 2 go up like bat wings, it needs the carb rebuilt. so I did not want to wait 2 weeks for a rebuild kit and for the same price I got a carb and air filter, I'll just take the parts I need off the new one and rebuild the original one because the original one is kind of setup weird. so I had a great holiday weekend, how was yours?

I've only owned this car for 9months, sprayed it down with oil when I got it home. A little late to save this frame I guess. Seems to be a thing with Saturn SL's in my area - Passenger side of the K-frame will look like brand new, drivers side will be a rot box.
