I’ve not updated with video since February.  Apparently I was tired of failure videos   I’m working on it…

I’m also going to guesstimate that between the 8 drive wheels and driven vehicles, we were tugging along with 33-35 thousand pounds!

We were in the truck for some 14 hours travelling from our mid-Mo location to our mid-Mi location.  Met our oldest son and his wife for dinner in northern In.  When the check came, I reached for it, he snatched it out of my hand, saying "happy Father's Day".

The almost 10 year old, 130,000 mile Ram 1500 delivered about 21mpg on the trip.  I still am amazed that the 4000 lb truck with a 5.7 L hemi that makes something like 385hp is able to do that.  My '72 Chevy C10 with a small block gets something like 12 or 13mpg.

I guess that is what 30 years of development on engine controls and aerodynamics produces.

But seriously, get a safety drop on that strap... 6" to the right and you could've been toast... :scared-eek:

Great point.  I’ve had a chain come through a back window and pile up on the dash.  I never YANK with a chain.  That strap had energy, but not chain energy.  It’s still worth noting you are correct, a safety drop would have benefitted!  A rope, another strap, floor mat, sweatshirt, etc.

OK    :eusa-think:     Now that I have seen the video I understand it all.  :P     Kevin dug some holes deeper than the ones Colleen was stuck in, broke a strap while Taylor came up with alternate suggestions for the use of the bus and then while they weren't watching Jada got behind the wheel and drove Colleen out by herself.  :ychain:

Come-on Randy, that would take all the fun out of our lives.    :P     Doing stupid things and admitting it is what makes the world go round.

Yes. If you're going to get a bus stuck, make sure you fill the bus with people to help you get it out! :)

I spent some quality time today with my level, ice spud, shovel, framing square, and hose setting the 9 6x6 main posts for the deck we are adding to the lake house.

Looks like I will need to put the blade on Morgan, the 14-8 tomorrow to clean up the grade under the deck.  The uphill end needs to loose 3 or 4 inches.  Looks like there will be room for that material under the downhill end.

Super busy day yesterday.

We had planned on making a trip to my parent's house but the Honda Pilot starter.. didn't.

The repair shop is about 2 weeks out.

So we commenced to removal. Neither of us is super keen on repairing vehicles but we figured it would either come out or we'd do what we could and have it towed over there anyway.

Well after a few YouTube videos and trying to figure the ways of hidden bolts and the minds of engineers we got the problem part out.

Note the connecting wire between starter and solenoid.

My guess is that corrosion degraded the wire to a point where the current didn't have enough room to move and welded things.

Remanufactured unit arrives Monday.

After that escapade I started organizing and putting away tools from the old basement workshop back up to the barn.

I also took some time to remove the magnet mounts from the headlamps of my '75 C160 Automatic and make them permanent drilled holes. The magnets were constantly dropping down the side of the hood.

Trina and her momma cut and installed the insulation on the long wall of the new workshop.

Then they split some firewood.

@ebinmaine got to wonder sometimes what engineers are thinking.

I myself made some refrigerator magnets and trying to get stuff ready to take to the show. Have some more to make today.

I gave Terry the idea of the "Wheel Hose Makes It" decal years ago. I should have copyrighted it and made a killing!

Well make sure you get one then. I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes with anything I make. I do scavenge the internet looking for pictures and text to make these. I asked Karl about the Redsquare logo but never got an answer. Just trying to come up with stuff no one is making.

Eric, I often joke that 90% of my job is reading the instructions, saying "That's stupid, I'm not doing it that way" and finding a better way to do the job.
