Packed and am now at airport with the little woman to go overseas for three weeks. Somehow it makes for a stressful day.

Got the lakehouse bathroom floor grouted today.  Gee - that was a fun job.

We also went out and bought a new (to us) playmate for the Horses.  Pictures tomorrow.

In January I did some work for the race team down the road, wiring in an auto transfer switch from the generator to shore power, and wired in the shore power plug too.  I don’t know the source of the transfer switch, but it let magic smoke out already.  They opted then for a manual switch and new box.  Their 12v guy wired it in at the track one night and it got them home, but the box wasn’t closed up, ground wires ran out the door opening of the boxes, etc.  Today I moved the box, from out of the way to within reach, fixed wiring through the proper channels, and got them up and running safe again.  It wasn’t comfy being in a too short of space when on the 5th wheel loft or too high a space from the floor (with a cracked rib) but I managed to get it done.  Next, it’s figuring whether the packed full of dirt track filth mini splits will ever work again, or see if the owner will opt for total replacement for about double the money of fixing up the old beat up ones.

It is a Dolphin Senior.  Going by the hull number, it is a 1978 model.

I like that the Horse and Dolphin can frolic in the yard together.

After no success breaking this nut loose from the pinion shaft to get to the differential shaft oil seal, I went on the internet to get done wisdom. I did not like what I saw there, wondering about breaking gear teeth.

I kept putting penetrating oil on the thing for some days, and finally decided to buy a big boy pipe wrench to fit the yoke and take the load off the gear teeth.

I finally figured out how to brace the 3/4 breaker bar against the truck frame and slipped a floor jack under the three foot long pipe wrench.

Going to OO O'Reilly's this morning for a two jaw puller and a new shaft nut as they call for a one time use.

I used a caliper to measure the original depth of engagement to the threads so as to get the thing to original spec

Got a call from our Mo. location water department yesterday that there was water running in our house there.  We told them to turn the water off at the meter and I would get there the next day.

I took off driving from Mi. yesterday afternoon, took a hotel room in Decatur last night, and arrived in our Mo. location today about 1 pm  local time.

Fortunately, the wet spot I found was realitivly small and not in a critical spot on the basement.  Turns out that there was a leak in the flexible supply hose for the ice maker in the fridge.

Tomorrow's job is to clean up the soggy stuff and replace the supply line.

Yup.  I was pleasantly surprised that the basement floor was dry when I first started down the stairs this afternoon.  I was halfway expecting to find a pond down there.

I'm beginning to think that it will be a good idea to close the water shutoff valve that is just inside the basement on the supply line when we are travelling.......

Was it one of the plastic supply lines?  I've heard of them splitting.

Good the water company called.  We repaired a vacant home that is on a well so damage was significant.

:text-yeahthat:  It was a reinforced plastic one.  Looks like some mouse got its face washed on that last nibble it took on the hose!

The replacement has a stainless wire woven jacket over the plastic hose

I am on a well also, and any time I leave for more than a day or so I switch off the pump.

@cleat  And the new oil poured in easy too. Glad it inched up another degree to 95. That was a big help :laughing-rolling:

Well it only made it to 97* here. I was out working on the shed where it was only 95* with a wind chill of 94*. Got my manual/book cabinet over my toolbox and built a shelf for the back wall. Now to decide if I want to paint it all. Also started on some led backlit wall signs. Yes they are backwards because thats the side that gets painted. They will be turned around and put in a wooden box. Led strip lights and a colored diffuser behind it hopefully will look good. We’ll see. 5659278A-EC2C-4CE8-8348-FACCC57C3170.jpeg.90167b52375afd79c8b43dba35050095.jpeg

Got to get them framed/boxed in. I have to do some painting on a cup this weekend so I hope to get the horse logo painted. The other one is done except squaring it up on the edges.
