I discovered that I can remove the top grill without disturbing the fan and there is enough room to duck around the blades for the vac and hose.

Manufacturer's help desk suggested a wet dry vac with a long tube for any debris on the inside (ours is ~45” high) and a low-to-moderate pressure hose nozzle stream spraying from inside outward to rinse/clean the coils. Of course, keeping it covered about 2/3s of the way down in the off-season helps a lot. Manufacturer strongly discourages full wrap due to likelihood of trapping moisture inside.

Since my units also act as heat pumps, they operate year round.  The first unit, that I installed myself, was cooling only, it ran for over 30 years without issue, then the A-coil sprang a leak, that is when I went to a heat pump.  I am dealing with two houses so it can be confusing.  The other house had a heat pump installed at the same time as the first one, it was a basic lower efficiency model.  Now this year the oil tank did a @ebinmaine and the furnace was very old, so I replaced the whole works with a high efficiency heat pump with electric resistance backup that will kick in at 11 degrees.

I finally shot and field dressed a whistle pig last week.  It has been in a salt water brine for quite some time and today I smoked it at 180 for about 7.5 hrs.  It’s ok.  Not great.  Pretty tough.  Probably not worth the effort to continue the efforts for food.

I was lucky and caught it in time.  I kept the Depends on it till I got it pumped out.  The recycling center wanted a 12" hole in the side to prove it was cleaned out, would you believe I got 3 gallons of black sludge out of it?  No wonder the tanks rot out with the oil suppliers selling such crap.

Stopped by lowes today to pick up a battery powered air compressor I find them very handy with tons of pool floats and old wheel horse tires 😅 was going to get a kobalt one to match my batteries I already have but then I noticed this craftsman one and this one is battery powered or wall outlet and even cigarette lighter powered, unlike the kobalt that was strictly battery powered. This one also has a low pressure air hose for air mattress or big pool floats. So far worth the purchase. AND I got 2 batteries for the price of one. They had a 4ah & 2ah with charger combo kit for same price as a charger and a 4ah battery.

You guys complaining about removing a couple little panels to clean a AC. Try removing about 15 3x6 panels , donning a raincoat and climb inside a air cooled chiller and try to clean cotton wood out of the coils. Then getting on a ladder remove 10 condenser fans and hit all the coils again from the opposite side. Then multiply that by 3 units.

Working 2 days a week .  But got OT and spent 72 grand the last 2 weeks replacing an entire building's  failed automation system. I'm the only one who knew what went where so I was elected. This week is a cooling tower motor replacement so we can get a natural gas chiller on line so we can shut down the air cooled one to clean it.

Working on a new Thermal / Video Gimbal for my Fawn Saving Drone Project.

 

 

instead of just fly with thermal or Video cam, i like to combine both in a new Prototype built Gimbal.

 

 

So i by me a new 3D Printer, that works with Resin.

 

 

Cool new Gadget, perfect for prototyping and much better Quality instead FDM Printing, but much smaller Build Platform.

 

actually i tried how much i can reduce the Parts weight, to keep my Airtime up to maximum.

 

 

this 2 Prototypes vary in the Weight between 17 gramms, what is dang heavy difference.

curious how much the endweight can be dropped down at full stability.

The Local Rock Garden Specialist was VERY hard at work today.  

Trina/BBT did a pretty fair rebuild and expansion to the garden spaces on the front, back, and side of the house towards the old shed.  

 

 

Here at the front she realigned and added quite a passel of rocks, weeded, and mulched. 

There's now a solid line of rocks 15 to 20 inches from the foundation to the inside of the garden.  

 

 

At the back she's been pulling weeds and relocating plants. Today she added rocks and mulch. 

 

 

This is a Lily Garden just left of the last pic. 

Removed several good plants. Weeded. Rebuilt/relocated good plants. Added mulch.  

 

Here's one of two blueberry bushes near the back door. 

 

 

These yuccas are a transplant from my parent's place in Western Massachusetts.  

 

 

Annnddd.... The biggest project from today.  

Trina dug up a trench and moved several good lilies from the previously mentioned position. 

Found rocks and built the surround. Added mulch.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm tired just THINKING of what she got done today. 

 

AND that's while working from home full time and doing all her regular chores!!!!!

What did I do today?  Well the same thing I did Saturday, I stacked firewood while being a pincushion for the resident wasps. 

 

Right now I am listening to the pleasant sound of my generator because the storm took out a lot of the grid.
