Took a little 36 or so mile jaunt up to Salisbury NC for the June Jam…

Its a swap meet, biker games, and live band…

The band was a group called Gents and Liars… they were good.

I have been wanting to make my trailer ramp gate a bifold ramp gate. Finally got it done today.

Less wind resistance and more rear end protection.

Added side extensions on my HF lift table.

I have the same table and since I don’t own a motorcycle, I made a new wider top out of two sheets of 3/4”plywood. Furniture grade oak plywood was cheaper than CDX ! Then banded it with some Poplar, topped it off with an oil based paint and a decal from Terry! I still need to come up with a good ramp system to get on and off of it.

With that fancy tractor, the ramps could be as solid as you want. They could be solid 2x10 or laminated with a bent plate to transition to the table top. I would glue some rubber to the metal transition plate so as not to scratch your pretty top.

  If you are afraid that the lift table would scoot while trying to load you could add cables to hold the ramps tight to the table.

 Or not,you will figure it out.

Right now I am consolidating my vinyl siding stash to a second set of pipe standards shelving and the front shelving will be for large sheet metal parts for the herd. I am sure that it will look better and be more organized with like kind parts together. I just bought a decent Ryobi pressure washer and cleaned the old dust from the loose sheets of siding. 

   Projects like this are tough to keep going, so doing some every day all the sudden pays off after all the drugery seems to result in a break through.

Nice!  Can you describe the details on the piers?  How deep do they go?  Being in Maine, I'll hazard a guess that the rocks were very locally sourced?

The pier centers are made from 18"dia. 6in thick precast concrete. Two heavy duty concrete blocks mortared on top.

The rock are mortared to that at a 30in x 30in. base size to approx. 22in square top. They actually sit on the ground.

 

Yes the rocks are sourced local. They came from a small gravel pit across the street from my childhood home. Transported approx 5miles to location.

The piers with the pocket for the center beam has 1/2in copper pipe mortared in for a weep hole. In case of moisture accumulation.

The next rain day I have I will be whittling out 108.  1in x 1.5in  wooden pins to fill all of those fastener holes.

I'll leave them a bit proud approx 1.25in.

Thanks. Construction experience, self taught. Landscaper by day  DIY'er by night lol. I've built alot of things over the years. Including my house and 3 bay garage.

 

The building is 20x20.

I wholeheartedly agree about the American flag flapping.  When we had boats, Ole Glory was always showing her colors with us.  Now, when we go camping, our flag proudly fly's.  I helped a neighbor mound a flag holder on the front of her house.  Now when I sit looking out of my shop door, I enjoy the red, white and blue  waving in the breeze.

 Me likewise. I started at age 15 and now at 71 I still am at it. GM justs announced a million square foot addition to the D-max plant 6 mlles away and it may be in the stars to remodel  my rental property because housing will be short., Gotta be some people wanting small town life away from the apartments sure to follow.,

Was a busy time here on the east lakeshore yesterday evening.

 

I was out in my driveway melting holes, er, welding on Clyde's new muffler. 

 

The neighbor across the street borrowed his son in law's miniature MF tractor with a backhoe and bucket to dig up the drain field for his laundry and sink that quit running.  He discovered that the perforated pipe was filled with dirt. Even more agrivating, the guy who put the system in had used 'geavel' in the backfill that consisted of field rocks ranging in size from about 3" to about 8".

 

My other neighbor around the corner got a deal on some what appear to be blue stone slabs.  He came up with a Kubota tracked micro front end loader to get the slabs (about 14" x 36" x 6") out of his truck.

Tried out repaired 36” RD mower deck. This was on the C161 I bought, they couldn’t get it to cut, it kept shredding belts. Sold mower to me for £100.00. I spent an hour and a half today mowing on the lowest setting, no belt problems at all. Main drive belt is not even a reinforced belt, but is a ‘wrapped’ ‘A’ section, instead of the’SPB’ section they had used! After finishing mowing, the belts were only warm to the touch! Deck is so quiet now after following @peter lena’s lubrication advice,Thanks Pete👍 (Please excuse the ‘JD’ front wheels and the temporary ‘Raider10’ silencer, this cured the sticking exhaust valve, caused by the stainless silencer retaining too much heat. Runs fine now). Doug.
