Today is our 35th wedding anniversary.  Spent it together having brunch and sorting out the tiling job. Good job I remembered the anniversary,  seconds after she mentioned it!

Trina and I aren't married. We rarely eat dessert. Don't celebrate any holidays but birthdays.

We do acknowledge our anniversary, so to speak. Every month.

The second day of every month has become known as Cake Day to us.

There's been more than one occasion when we get to the 4th or even fifth day and both of us will look at each other at the same time and burst out laughing because we completely forgot about it until that point.

Spent the day manually putting serial numbers on, thus far,144 tracking devices before install on our towable assets(trailers, gensets, lightplants etc.) The manufacturer did not place the serial number(which is how they are programmed and identified into the network) on the units, but was kind enough to provide me a spreadsheet so I can manually cross reference.

Mighty nice of them!

We also arent using the provided mounting brackets, so I had to figure out how to neatly stack about 200 brackets in minimal space LOL.

Well after I painted the hood for the Work Horse, and adjusted the PTO mechanism, I had to take her for another shakedown cruise… and put her in the shop. Then I pulled weeds and put out some of the stump grindings from the 10 oaks I had cut down last May.

From this to this…

( My knees are killing me… )

Gonna plant some petunias in that rotten stump… mom’s favorite…

tested the suspension in my new to me Toyota Tundra. Just about dragged the muffler on the road😅

Cant say no to free firewood, as much as my truck might hate it.

shame Toyota never offered a 2500 type truck. I wonder if stiffer leaf springs are available aftermarket.🤔

I spent the last few days volunteering at the First Robotics regional competition the local high school robotics team I mentor for this weekend.  I helped with field set up and take down and was a tech inspector for the robots in between.

The JV team had a good weekend, ending up captaining the #2 seeded alliance.  Unfortunately,  the #3 alliance eliminated them in the semi finals.

The varsity team maintained the #1 ranking all during the qualification rounds.  This earned them the position of captain on the #1 seed alliance.   They went on to win the regional.

This is the first time the team has been a captain of a #1 seed alliance.  This is the first time the team has won more than one regional in the same year.  Was especially nice that they did this at a 'home'  meet.

The team will get some well earned rest before making preparations to compete in the world championships held in Houston in a couple of weeks.

Edit:  Got a text today from one of the other mentors saying that out of the 3,200 or so active teams FRC teams this year, we are rated #35 in terms of scoring.  There are some more meets that will happen before the world meet, so that ranking can change some.  It still is pretty good.

Got to put the old homelite to its first real test since I’ve owned it. It pulls the 20in bar though hardwood like it’s nothing.

People tend to say the xl-12 does best with a 16, but as long as your not forcing it and you let the sharp teeth do their job, it runs amazingly with a 2031C3BFD9-A20A-47A0-A335-31D57CBAA265.jpeg.8cc17270f42e099b3b5811b2522956be.jpeg

I have seen more poor sharpening jobs than good ones.  Doing it correctly with the angle and gauges right makes all the difference.  My old Homelites serve me well.

I got my father in law's old Mac 10 10 running last fall.  It has a 16" bar.  I find that to be rough on my back.  I'm planning on getting an 18" bar for it this spring.

Another option is to find tools or mechanism to lift the wood higher. That helps nicely.

Yesterday the BBT, who is also the local firewood tree spotter, and I went out to the forest and marked about 20 trees to be pruned out for this year's firewood. All beech this time.

We'll commence to cuttin' right quick so it has time to dry.

I also got the battery out of the Cinnamon Horse C160-8. I have a good used group 51 waiting to be installed.

I've been meaning to use some scrap bits of tread plate to make new foot rests for Fred for awhile now and today I got on with it.

They look nice and will be easier to keep clean that the stuck on grit paper that I used before.

That thing under the foot rest looks dangerous, is it part of a lift?

Well it's feeling more like spring around here so that means the 314-8 made it though winter and it's time to convert her back to the warm setup, and start some spring yard clean up and projects! Also might have to start another wheel horse project due to the little one claiming the 314 as her :D. Anyways hope everyone had a good winter season and doing alright! Also welcome to all the new red square members! :greetings-wavegreen:

We made a quick trip to our Ky. location.  Took a stroll in our 20 acres of woods here today.  Was about 50 and drizzle, but, that did not bother us while we were out in the woods.

It has rained most of the night, so the intermittent stream was an actual stream today.  We got a better idea of the natural water drainage patterns in the area we are planning to build.  We did not see any major issues and refined the location and size of the house location.  Got a better idea of what needs to be cleared, too.  Still got to start working on a driveway into the property.

It was kind of neat seeing our woods starting to come to life again.  Saw ferns, may apples and trilliums starting to sprout.

Its a support for a strimmer. I designed it to fit on the plow frame so I can ride along in low range and trim the verge as I go. It's a work in progress but the mounting isn't in the way and works well so far.

Lol will do Ed, it's still being worked out as I go along. I'm not much for drawing plans and such. I prefer to lay down metal and figure it out.

That's exactly how Trina is with everything she does around here.

She just tries to get it so it's about halfway between yay big and so big and then trim as needed. Comes out excellent every time....
