What did you do today?

So since the last post here was on Saturday, I’ll go ahead and tell you what I did last Saturday…

 

I had posted this pic of “Soldier”, my neighbors German Shepard.

 

Well he likes to dig, so Soldiers master asked me Saturday morning if I would take my “ Heavy Chevy” and get him some screened fill dirt.

 

So after I went for my “spring clean up” hair cut, I took my neighbor to get a yard of fill dirt.

 

Squatted the Chevy all the way down to the spring bumpers…

 

My neighbor laid down some old chain link fence before we covered it with dirt to discourage Soldier from digging again… should work… has so far.

 

After that I went to visit a fellow member and we talked tractors, and other stuff…

It might slow Soldier down, but I'm bettin he will luv digging in that new loose dirt.  And when he hits the chain link, he'll peel that back like a like he's opening a can of tuna.

   That's a job for me when/if the ground dries up a bit. Nell, the Kelpie cross has made a berm round the Japanese Mable in the lawn, that would do a motocross track justice. Rest of the lawn hasn't fared much better.

I don't see a problem here. Never mind about fixing the yard contours. Go buy a dirt bike.....

@Horse Newbie  Nice truck!  I had a 95 Z-71 extended cab and loved it!  some idiot rear-ended me though and it was done...couldn't find another one in decent enough shape so went with a 2004 z-71.  I love that era of truck though...yours looks like it's still in great form!  Thanks for showing it off!

Well it was boat maintenance day for the fishing rig...changed oil for engine and gear box.  Now we just need some weather to cooperate so we can put some walleyes in the freezer!

Been splitting and stacking logs. Even using the log splitter makes my back ache. Sitting relaxing now and enjoying the smell of Carol's baking.

Vapor lock. Same thing plagues a nice Poulan of mine. Starts cold on the second pull.

Frankly, I don't have a good answer for you, and nor did Poulan customer support for me (they suggested I replace the carb which I may do at some point--$15 for OEM).

I have, occasionally, had success with your idea but it's not something I count on. I've just gotten accustomed to keeping it running through one full tank of fuel and when it quits I refuel, add chain oil and do something else for 20-30 minutes (move logs, get coffee, etc.) at which point it usually starts with half choke.

@Ed Kennell Vapor lock, somethings not venting properly. See if it makes a hissing noise when you crack the gas cap after running it. You can still get replacement gas caps on amazon of the vent is clogged

I built myself a table. A rather stout table. It's made from a 1 3/4" solid core wood door, covered with FRP, and measures 32" by 72". It has castors, and the center post also has rollers on the bottom of it's foot.

I can hang the table on my wall brackets, screw in the support posts, and it at work bench height.

When not in use, everything fold up underneath, and it folds down flat against the wall.

I also built a wood storage rack. I have been working hard on getting my limited space more organized and useful. The rack is suspended from the ceiling, and is operated by a winch. I had a winch in my garage already, and I could have used it for this, but then I got to thinking about what I could do with a second winch. More on that later.

Got this half-ton lift table yesterday and put it right to use changing the skids on the snowblower. It was a whole lot easier with the machine at an easy working height than having to reach down for it!

I burned a bunch of $4 and $4.25 gas today driving back to our primary location.  Got to check the property and clear out the PO box.  We drove our 2019 Cherokee with a 4 cyl engine.  It managed a bit over 29 mpg.  Quick calculations told me that our 2015 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi would have burned about $55 more in gas at its usual 20mpg.  

 

Also located carb for my C195 and got a check sent out.  Should show up soon.

 

The high school robotics team I am mentoring left today for their first competition in Oklahoma.  I'll be able to watch them compete on line.  For that matter, you folks can watch, too.  PM me if you are interested, and I'll send you information.
