I know there are various thoughts, but we chose to point the direction the wind is blowing, not the direction it’s coming from.  If we’re wrong… you can build your own :handgestures-thumbupright:

Excellent.  Head those “neigh sayers” off at the pass with their unsolicited opinions.  As if this were some kinda democracy! Sheesh.

Thanks.:handgestures-thumbupright: I'm very aware of axle placement on trailers. Here is a picture of the 12'x6.5' trailer that I built to haul my :wh:'s around.

IMG_20210425_114614339.jpg.4ccaa3e9f410209582b783005937b94d.jpg

Story behind my wood hauling trailer. About 15yrs ago I picked up a 1 ton Chevy with no motor or trans. and a damaged front end. Rolled the cab off, cut the frame & notched it to so it could be bent to reach the tongue that I made for it. Removed the drive axles from the rear end so it would pull easier, spiced a plug into the harness, threw some racks on and added a tongue jack. BAM!! one heavy duty wood hauling trailer. Price out of pocket $125. A really wish I knew how many cords of wood have been on and off that trailer since I built it.

I borrowed my wood trailer to a family member.:eusa-doh: And because no good deed goes unpunished. When I went to pick it up yesterday morning, I got it back with one side rack smashed, one tail light smashed, one tail gate smashed beyond use, and one safety chain missing:ranting:  Lesson learned I guess.

im giggling cuz depending who i lend stuff to its like waaaaaaa cant you fix before yu return?

Spent a while cleaning bricks again today.  Only a couple 300 or so left to go.  Turned a 4" knotted brush on my angle grinder into a 3 1/2" brush in the process.  Got to stop by HF tomorrow to get a back up brush.  See if I can find a 4 1/2" brush - that way I'll have another 1/4" of wear to start with.

The old man and I took some time off, and I brought HellHorse down to take care of some business... logging, stacking, moving stumps... etc...

Probably cut and move these stumps next:

Unfortunately, it was pretty muddy, so it got pretty nasty. HOWEVER, we persevered.

The girls and I received access to a woodlot.  One load, then lunch, then another today.

Oh, and of course they took a snooze while I unloaded the first haul!

Cleaned more bricks today.  The 'unclean' pile is now smaller than the cleaned pile.

Performance comparison on the two brushes I've used up so far:

DeWalt 4" dia heavy duty knot brush.  $20 - cleaned about 150 bricks.

Harbor Freight Warrior brand 4 1/2" knot brush. $8 - cleaned about 240 bricks.

Next up - Menards 4" knot brush. $7.

@Stormin what is the story on your crawler pictures?

They belonged to a friend of mine. He had a collection of every model of Ransomes crawlers. Due to ill health he's sold most of them. Still has the blue digger. He built that from scratch.

The big yellow one is a sand skimmer. Used in water treatment plants. Would have a auger on the front that scooped the sand on to a conveyor that ran under the seat to the back. It  then dropped off into a Ransomes crawler fitted with a dump bucket.

You steered the skimmer with your feet. Great fun to drive. Lots of info on it's rebuild here.

Started on trying, and I mean trying, to make some headway with the wood pile. Just chainsaw work. Cutting up logs into sections and storing under cover, ready for splitting at a later date. I need to get a heap moved and cut, so I can get the saw bench into the workshop for a service. Reluctant to start this cold weather. Petter single diesel with hand start.. Or maybe I just can't spin it fast enough these days.

Being a diesel engine in the cold I can't say that's a huge surprise.

Great workout if nothing else.

How’s that 308-8 treating you? I’ve always wanted a redhead 308. Just hesitant with the size of the engine😅

Its awesome. Runs great, sips fuel and it’s quiet. I have a few machines with bigger motors so I’m not stuck with just a single 8hp machine for all my chores.
I have run a 36” rear discharge deck on it and the little 8 just chugs along fine.

Don't let the little engine fool you.

They're an excellent rig for general pulling/towing, plowing, grading the dooryard.

Woke up to 1 1/2" of wet snow this morning with temperatures at about freezing.  Shoveled the drive, 'cause it was quicker than getting the 14-8 with the plow out.

Dropped my 18" Craftsman chainsaw off at the hardware store.  It has a carb issue that I don't feel like messing with.  Their shop is warm.  Mine is not.

Working on the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 refresh has dirtied up the shop a fair amount… Could not take it anymore and I started clean up with the workbench…

If you have a decent 2 stroke mechanic you're doing well.

I had one but they've had too many problems with ((??)) people  not treating the equipment right and wondering why it doesn't run.

They have waaay too much work with 4 stroke engines to keep up with that "stuff".

I'm thinking I may have to learn to speak 2 stroke.
