BBT and I did a little reorganizing and put up this pegboard wall. 

Peg section measures 4' wide x 6' tall. 

One side is ¼ holes, ¼ thick. The other side is 2 x 4 ft of the same and 4 x 4 ft if the light duty ⅛ holes, ⅛ thick. 

 

The board pieces and most of the 2 x 4's came from the widow we've been helping out. 

 

This wall is easier accessed by Trina so I told her to lemme know what we want on it.

The foundation company finally got the last stabilization pier installed under the porch today.  Was not a clean project.  They got here late yesterday, and we were smelling gas in the trench.  Stopped work, got the gas company out with a sniffer, but he could not find a leak.  He could catch whiffs of gas, but his detector did not agree.  A different foundation crew shows up this morning to finish.  Made good progress until they discovered a missing hydraulic hose for their equipment.  Lost about 1 1/2 hours while they went and got it.  The hose they got had a leak, but they got the pier installed.  They were packed up, ready to go, and the city inspector shows up.  He wanted to see the pier before backfilling.  Fortunately,  the foundation crew leader had taken a picture.

 

On the plus side, I took the opportunity to discuss the porch roof repair job while he was here.

The foundation company should have been well aware that inspectors like to see forms/tubes before the pour (to make sure the bottoms are dry and undisturbed soil) and before the backfill (to be sure of the quality of the pour). They were in haste due to their self-inflicted troubles.

 the permit was part of the contract with the foundation company.  They had called the city yesterday informing them that the job was running late.  Somehow, the new crew today did not get the message today that they needed to call for an inspection before backfill.

 

The city is going to chew on the foundation company a while over this.

More organizing and cleaning up the basement workshop today.  

Chucked a few things.  

Put some stuff out to the outdoor workshop.  

Moved some other stuff. 

 

We now have a better idea of the pile of parts for the truck and also Colossus.  

We made room to relocate the table from the area by the workbench over behind the pegboard wall so we could more easily work on the big boy tractor. 

 

 

Trina started setting up - in her words -  "My wall" on the pegboard.  😃

 

Being "not huge" in stature she had a hard time getting to many of the tools/supplies on the wall behind the workbench. 

 

 

I suggested putting all the hammahs at the top so handles were within easy reach. 

She took it from there. 

Even got all the spray paint from various projects on a shelf at the bottom.   

 

 

 

 

Back side is mostly ⅛ board. I need to order some pegs/hooks for that.

See those spray cans near the middle with the weird looking tops ? That’s what kind of can the Rustoleum Black Satin comes in, and they can be aggravating. When I use them I have noticed that when they get low on paint, they seem to “sputter” more than average.

The trigger seems especially hard to pull, and the nozzles seem prone to clogging…

But I use them because that’s the only style can I have seen Rustoleum Black Satin in.

Anybody else noticed these things, or is it just me ?

I just asked my Local Paint Department about your situation and she agrees.

 

Trina says that not only does it sputter when it gets near to the bottom of the can but also the WHOLE CAN must be used at once or going back to it later the spout / nozzle will be clogged.

 

Not her favorite type of paint can, so to speak.

That is a head scratcher… We don’t have Menards in NC as far as I know, but it would seem to me that the normal cans would be widely distributed.

I have experienced the same… and I try to use the whole can at once… thought I was just getting ahold of some bad or old cans.

Box stores such as HD or Lowe's do NOT distribute the same product throughout the country.

State laws on different chemicals vary some. Also, market share based on weather is different.

 

A good example would be RV antifreeze that a lot of you use for tire filling. I can't get the same stuff here in Maine for the same price that many of you folks get down more towards the Mid-Atlantic.

Saturday I blowed leaves. All of the leaves come from neighbors yards as I had all of my confounded trees cut down last summer.

Plus me and the wind had different opinions on where the leaves need to go…

 

 

 

Now don’t get me wrong… I don’t hate trees, but the sticks in the yard, the massive amount of leave clean up in the fall, valleys on the roof filling with leaves, and walking on the acorns (marbles), had become old after fighting them for 14 years…

 

I guess mother nature got the last laugh…

 

So I got the 94’ 520H out and took a ride !

Our friend's daughter graduated from college yesterday.  We went to her commencement ceremony.  She graduated Suma Cum Laude with a point average.  Degree in Bachlor of Social Work.

 

Good kid.  We've known her since she was 10 or 12 years old.

 

I told her the easy part is done.  Now she needs to go out in the real world and apply what she has learned.

 

Today, I swapped out the worn summer all season sandles our Jeep Cheroke for some snow shoes.  Anti-snow insurance now in effect.

Rylee has had a science project in need of starting, so she could finish it.  She chose a weathervane.  We looked through the spare and random parts piles and found all the stuff to build this.  She used a vertical band saw to cut out the Horse head, arrow pieces and random steel bits.  The hub is a wheel center from who knows what.  It was a light duty solid rubber tire and wheel combo with spokes.  Time wise, I did the welding with her approval every step of the way.

 

I know there are various thoughts, but we chose to point the direction the wind is blowing, not the direction it’s coming from.  If we’re wrong… you can build your own

We used this awesome light Mrs. P got me a couple years back for a stencil, then she cut it out.  I suggested she could lay it over the light again for a paint by numbers experience, but she likes it white for now.

My thought is that the poor horse won't have a clue which way to go since it is in the middle.  Better offset the pivot before the project is judged.

The mouth of the head is far enough in front of the pivot, it catches the wind just fine.   we made sure that more than half of the surface area was in front of the pivot.
