adsm08 2,057 #3226 Posted October 20, 2021 Today I coined a new phrase. "Catastrophic electrical event". I'm happy with it.

I've been known to use a Gunk brand soak kit. In this case I used VERY light pressure on my bench grinder to remove the gaskets from the ends. After that it was all hand brass wire brush with brake clean sprayed throughout.
8ntruck 7,004 #3229 Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) I hauled the pontoon to the boat mechanic today for winterization, shrink wrap, and storage. Not inexpensive, but next time I see it next spring, it will be turn key ready. I did get a bit of seat time on my 14-8 moving the pontoon trailer out onto the road. Also spent some quality time with the rake, leaf blower, a box of matches, and the leaves. Did an impromptu experiment, too. About the time I got a large pile of leaves into the road, the neighbor shows up with his Cub Cadet zero turn with the leaf bags full. He dumped them in the street so I could burn them. I lit my pile of raked leaves and the pile of chopped leaves at the same time. The whole leaves burned a whole lot quicker and better than the chopped up leaves. There's an example of the difference between monetary value and the value of time. IMHO.. a good value.

Stormin 9,981 #3237 Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) Who mentioned leaves? Spent 5hrs today sweeping up leaves, cleaning out house and workshop gutters. Kitchen extension flat roof and implement lean to roof. Also raked the lawn. Filled a large wheelie bin and all done by hand. Well, brush, shovel and lawn rake. That's just the first instalment. Give a couple of days and it'll be all to repeat for at least 2-3 weeks. SWMBO Said the small shed, old studio and her new one want their roofs cleared of moss and leaves. That's not to mention the house and workshop need their roofs pressure washed and also the yard. I love this time of year. NOT! If you want to bring one of your tractors up or whatever you use to remove leaves you're more than welcome. I'll "let" you do the work here too. 19richie66 17,508 #3246 Posted October 20, 2021 I’ll take leaves anytime over thorny vines, and lots of thorny vines. And they hurt when you get wrapped up in them. I’ll have to get a picture. I’m working on thinning out my woods area and these things are everywhere. Trying to oull them out of the trees here soon.
SylvanLakeWH 25,557 #3247 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Cycled up and ran my generator to get it ready for winter…not gonna jinx myself by saying it, so I’ll just mention how nice uninterrupted electricity has been for the last year or so… and that the generator simply needed some ❤️… Oh… and in the process spilled gas all over myself when I dropped the gas can… Doing the laundry outside the good ole fashioned way as a result… gas in the washing machine not being advisable for domestic tranquility… Edited October 22, 2021 by SylvanLakeWH 3
