Greentored 3,217 #1 Posted April 30, 2020 The ol 1277 is going strong with the bic pen spring in the reverse accel valve. It is strong, will go up steep hills now, but she’s certainly not 100%, will not turn the tires on a ‘butt the building’ test. I am sure she is getting tired. It had atf in it which was changed. I’m aware some ran 10w30- would it be safe to say I could switch to 10/30 and perhaps the heavier oil would help her live? Also, the belt tensioner linkage in pic- is this pin worn, or supposed to be slotted where it rides on that lower arm? That lower arm goes into the trans, is it just using the case for support, or does that arm control some form of pressure or flow? Thanks fellas!
oliver2-44 9,861 #2 Posted April 30, 2020 Since it has ATF in it I wouls suggest staying with ATF. When you change the oil you can't get all the ATf out, and AF and 10w30 don't mix well. I'll follow along and let others comment on that linkage and pin.
WHX?? 49,162 #3 Posted April 30, 2020 That arm you have pictured is the parking pawl. Notch is as should be. Would really surprise me if it worked yet. It throws a bracket up against a gear when you pull up on the hydro disengage lever. Most are shot as po's used it when the tractor is moving. Big no no. It has nothing to do with the hydrogear other than put slack in the drive belt. IPL shows what it does. Consensus here is if it had atf run that.. doubt 10W30 would change things. Check that plastic piece that the motion control moves and the arm underneath it.
Greentored 3,217 #4 Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks fellas. The motion control assembly was pretty sticky but in decent shape, and while I know to not lube them on the eaton's, I lubed this one. Should I not have done that? The lever just falls forward, which gives a helluva surprise if I shove that belt tentioner lever down without my foot on the pedal ha. How exactly is that supposed to work? Pretty cool that stepping on the pedal returns it to neutral, but with the motion control lever having zero friction, release the pedal and shes on the move.
