RandyLittrell 3,877 #1 Posted April 27, 2020 You guys have a source for the rubber compression bushings that goes on the metal fuel line from pump to carb on my 1277? I know I have bought them in the past locally, but everyone in town just gives me a blank stare when I ask! Even the old guys at the parts counter, computer's have dumbed our country down!! wallfish 16,984 #2 Posted April 27, 2020 Hardware dept of any good store will have the brass fittings. It's not a rubber compression piece, typically brass. Just buy a whole new fitting, they're not expensive 3
SPINJIM 1,981 #3 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) I just replaced mine with the newer black fuel line. Figured the larger diameter had less chance of clogging, and would have better flow. Only had to buy two new 90 degree elbows to replace the compression style elbows. Not authentic original, but I think is's an improvement, and it's hidden under the hood anyway. The carbs from the sixties had a steel fuel line with little rubber compression bushings, worked for over fifty years!! My old ones are not super bad, may try and reuse them. Just wanted to be done with it! Not sure a fat o-ring wouldn't work though, might try that. Randy Edited April 27, 2020 by RandyLittrell

WHX?? 48,766 #9 Posted April 27, 2020 I ordered a bunch cheap off fleabay. In a pinch I once used some evap/vacuum/windshield washer tubing I had laying around. Worked pretty good. I use a little backing washer between the nut and the rubber. 1

I can throw a rock and hit the backside of Mike's 71 cycle shop from my house, (if I was younger!) it will be my first stop tomorrow!! He is as old school as it gets. RandyLittrell 3,877 #13 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) Here they are. I posted in my other thread about punches, but thought I would post a pic here for others searching at a later date. The guy at Mike's cycle shop, just went in the back and got them! No messing around there! Randy Edited April 29, 2020 by RandyLittrell 2
RandyLittrell 3,877 #14 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) Here she is, back together with no leaks! I have to say, I think she may run better than it has since I bought it. Hopefully the china carb will hold up but I will go ahead and rebuild the original carb for a spare if I have issues. I put it right to use cleaning out the road bank that the PO had placed rocks, bricks, and chunks of concrete trying to landscape. Didn't work, it looked like crap! Now to get some grass or ground cover growing. Thats all the rocks and concrete chunks at the other end.
