What those tiny sockets are for.

Finally found a good use for those tiny sockets that you get in socket sets, sharpen them up and use them for hole punches! Really helped make the gaskets I needed. 

 

Loader tractor went down with a leak and it was time to try out a new china carb I bought forever ago. I had to pull the hood to get my fat hands in there to work. Need to pick up some cap heads socket bolts for the carb and a couple of fittings and I should have it back together tonight.

Good idea.When I worked as a pipefitter,I had,[still have them,] a set of gasket punches made by Osborne.Pricy,but worth their weight. Use them all the time to make gaskets.

Agreed, I have gasket punches but my smallest one is cracked and it still wasn't small enough.

Have to have tools. I see sets all the time @ flee markets. Good to have in a pinch.

Good idea. I probably have half a dozen of each tiny size in one place or the other. 

 

Since I have it on hand anyway, I use a rotary leather punch. Surprisingly, the harbor freight version is better than the one I broke from hobby lobby.

Well, I put it on a bit driver and spun on my belt sander with a drill. I'm gonna be swinging by Harbor Freight to buy that set though! My harbor freight is just 15 miles up the road and right on my way to Aldi!

 Rifle case. Use a deburring tool to sharpen the inside.  The case is thin, so it cuts easily

 I did use a little socket one time to slip over the end of a bolt to drill the exact center for a broken off bolt.  A cheap piece of junk from a cheap socket set.It was critical to do it right the first time as that bolt threaded into the camshaft of a motorcycle. The thing had a round hole inside the square 1/4 drive recess that was the perfect size for the application. I then used a variation of an Easy Out and it came right out!

 Anyway, we all appreciate little shop hints like this as the hard part is thinking up the trick that makes you say, "why didn't I think of that?"

 

 here's one of mine . Get the little black coffee stirrer from lowes free coffee area and tape it on a spray can. That little red straw that concentrates the spray out of the nozzle now has a home and will not get lost. [as easily]

 

 Meat loaf is only warm once ,fellers

 Very nice. I usually make up a want list of anything under ten bucks i need and then use the 30% off coupon to buy those items up to eight items for thirty percent off.  Those coupons don't come around very often, so watch for them...

Well, I got my bushings at the cycle shop and went the HF and bought the gasket punches. Hopefully get the loader back together tonight, later this week I am putting in a hydrant outside the shop so I have water there. My shop is about 8 miles from my house in another little town. Used to be a mobile home there, now its just my man cave property! Added them to my other hole punches. I have lots of punches, just not always what I need at the time!!
