A whole fleet and plenty of fuel went into that project, when there's a shortage of road base ya gotta make do with what ya have on hand, on the other hand the farm have their own gravel pit, screening plant, loaders and trucks. All the farms tractors are large case tracked machines, with four rubber belted tracks at $8,000.00 a pop, that's $32,000.00 worth of rubber, I don't think they would run them tracks over a rock pile. They use a damaged track at the entrance tipped on its side as a flower garden. Edited April 29, 2020 by bcgold 1

I'm about to build a small rock trommel as half our backyard used to be part of the farm and it's so full of rocks. We hand sifted a bit, then I said let's make a machine instead 🙂 Was going to use the wheelhorse PTO, but have sourced an electric motor to drive it now. You realise you'll have to do a thread on it, now you've mentioned it.

bc.gold 3,403 #9 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) If you have an active gravel pit nearby you might want to inquire about obtaining the old screens from the screening plant often these are still in usable condition. The screens are made from a wear resistant material. Don Bremner used to make a small screening deck used to classify placer material before is reached the centrifuge, the deck had a shaft with an eccentric run off an electric motor via a belt. The deck itself was mounted on springs to allow motion. Edited April 29, 2020 by bcgold

Drilled most of the 1/2" holes.

If you install a lift bar this will help to bring the material upwards then as the rocks fall back any clumps of dirt will get broken down also clean loose dirt from the rocks before being discharged. The gravel pit screens are flat, but can be made circular.

If your Amish, the elders still use the kids!!! I grew up near Amish and its amazing to see a 10 year old kids plowing with a 4 horse draft hitch! They also hire there kids out to other farmers and the money goes straight to the folks. I'm not saying its wrong, kids today just have no idea.
